Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Managers 122% bonus

What is everyone spending their bonus on? I purchased a new vehicle, at least I will have a paid for ride when I get laid off.

122% is the bonus payout percentage... L2 bonus is 13%

Our group was 11% for L2.

Majority of those in the company are not getting a 122% bonus.

122% is the bonus payout percentage... L2 bonus is 13%, so it gets paid out at 15.86% of an employee's salary. No one truly thinks any actual working individual is getting a 122% bonus...

Posts like this is why this board needs to add an identifying hash to distinguish "anonymous" users, because I have a feeling it's the same two stupid id--ts who keep posting this troll bait drivel.

Majority of those in the company are not getting a 122% bonus. Not even L3s get that.

Most of us got around ~$20k

Yeah, no. Try less.

A credit union is FDIC insured so your money is safe. Easy to look up any of the terms and conditions of any banks or credit unions. It’s not loan shark, uncle Joe in the basement handling your money.

Not sure why this was a comment. Someone said they got a 5.10% rate at the CU. I said there are better rates from other providers like Marcus and Barclay's. I also said I stay away from the ones I've never heard of...places like Third National Internet Bank of Indiana (made up but similar) and definitely ones that don't prominently display their insured status.

Nothing wrong with CU, which are NCUA insured as pointed out, just that there are better rates to be had.

Govt took 42% upfront and I'll be sending the other 58% (and then some) to the govt this month for additional taxes.

I spent my bonus this year on the same thing I've spent it on for 31 years at AT&T, the very same as nearly every union member I manage: wine, women, and weed. Best investments you could ever make.

So many dum dums amongst my fellow non bargained for.

If you have personal debt: loans (car, student, personal), credit cards, a mortgage.

Any "windfall" like your bonus should be going to pay that off. You should not be blowing it on vacations, etc.

Pay off your debt. Save 6 months worth of expenses in an accessible account. You're going to need that when you lose this job, which is probably going to be sooner rather than later.

Stop being a dum dum.

People, its not 122% of your salary! Most of us got around ~$20k. Grateful for it, but its not life-changing money. For me, I was blessed enough to be able to put it aside for a future vacation.

Hey, this may make up for the last five years raises that were below inflation. Probably not. Spend it wisely ; )

@10% CD at the credit union.
What credit is that pray tell???

Pretty sure that is (5.10)% rate CD. A number of places have better rates available. Most notably Marcus (Goldman Sachs) and Barclay's; I stay away from the ones I've never heard of.

Here we have some Mayflys trying to suggest their +20K bonus is going to be enough to pay off all of their bills. We know this isn't true, more importantly, they know this isn't true. Allow them their fantasy though..

Dream Big.

Paying off credit card debt. Came at the right time, interest is ridiculous, had a lot of medical debt and with high inflation it was pushing me to the limit.
