It crazy, the only thing keep is us a float is our dividend. T is already a bottom of the barrel stock, but the dividend keeps it from tanking.

I am waiting until the stock goes up before I buy.
Someone is making money.
Me! Bought a little under $14!! Cha ching!
The investor base for T craves the dividend. These are widows and seniors that care more about income then growth. AT&T is not a growth stock. Many people would be happy with a 6-7% dividend while preserving capital.
AT&T stock is up over the past 6 months. Someone is making money.
Same guy complaining about the stock price. Same wondering if you own stock. This forum really is the same complaints over and over. That's why we are here.
“ Do you actually own stock?“
I simply MUST know why ( and I know it’s the same guy every time) — you post this EVERY SINGLE TIME someone comments on the poor performance of T stock? I mean, I just don’t get it. It’s weird.
Why do you post this? You understand that almost everyone here owns T stock at least temporarily, don’t you?
You don’t dispute that T is a horrible performing stock that no one recommends that anyone own anymore, so you?
That is 100% correct!
Do you actually own stock? Or just complaining for a friend?
"...rather than pay dividends to provide a greater return for the shareholders...."
GREATER return? There is literally NO return, aside from the dividend. No return through the longest bull market in history.
"...due to the predictable volatility..."
Doesn't "volatility" suggest that the stock at least "sometimes" INCREASES in value too? When has that happened over the last 20 something years?
My perspective is that a company should invest that money in targeted growth opportunities rather than pay dividends to provide a greater return for the shareholders.
Except that AT&T Leadership/Bleedership has an abysmally poor success rate at doing that.......
Has nothing to do with the purpose of this board, but sure, the dividend provides at least some value for investors.
Actually, a lot of traders play an options strategy called ‘the wheel’ with $T due to the predictable volatility. You can earn 1% to 2% a month off $T with relatively low risk. Been doing this for years.
Of course, why do you think it pays such a high dividend amount.
