Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Mandatory “Career Development”.. but layoffs?🤔

Anyone else have a department wide career development all hands meeting? Auto Quality Assurance had one yesterday that ended up sounding like crickets. The long and short is that we’re expected to come up with career development action plans.. even though our market has no active listings and there are zero opportunities for advancement in our department unless you’re in Manila. It literally read like a performative hoop to frustrate us into quitting. No one here cares about career development. Just give us our packages and we’ll part ways. Why does this have to be so hard?🤦🏻‍♂️

Upper manager told me that she is willing to help me find something outside of Wells. She offered to review my resume. 🙄

"My plan
Identify new roles and apply"

...and be told that they already filled the position even though it was posted the day before.

Our group is required to take a certain number of hours of "continued development" each month. I just open the training platform and let it run in the background. Only ones I pay attention to are those which will help me get a new job once I'm laid off.

It's incredibly obvious that HY wants us all gone, so this exercise is clearly either an attempt to demoralize via the absurd or more employee survey torment and box checking.

The idea that corporate clowns that got here 5 mins ago and are firing everyone literally as fast as they possibly can without getting hit with huge lawsuits gives 2 Ss about my career is the biggest joke ever. I HAD ONE UNTIL YOU MO--NS SHOWED UP. now I just have to hope I survive enough rounds of Wells Roulette to get to retirement.

Might be too late. Have you consider employing AI stateside? Google
" ai for quality assurance auto loans". https://www.leewayhertz.com/ai-loan-underwriting/
You can reject AI but that will allow others (I&P) to succeed.
Also, could you consider this situation after your layoff? You will be in front of some hiring manager. You can say "Well I tried to employ this AI technique/technology at Wells. They were not ready for it. Are you? It's time for everyone to consider AI in your career.

At WF, the cruelty is the point.

We all can work to have clients and brokers leave, or, never join the firm. If advisors bring their clients to such a dishonest and damaging firm, they are showing poor judgment. That's not someone who should be managing money.

With the way they've been chopping of heads, why should we waste time at "career development" in this dumpster fire?

My career development plan:

  1. With all the gaps left wide open by layoffs, keep doing the job I was hired to do.
  2. Don't take on orphaned work that resulted from WF's stupid location and reorg "strategies".
  3. Avoid layoffs.
  4. Go back to step 1 and repeat until I get voted off the stagecoach and get my severance.

Reorgs, career development and other tactics just to make us quit. WF doesn't want to pay us severance.

It’s a brag point. We are doing them in other LOBs in sites that are tagged for shutdown. They want to be able to say they helped everyone move on as they do mass layoffs.
