Assessments during interview process

I know 3 people who've interviewed internally and they've reached final or near-final stage. Every one of them was asked to take an "assessment" that takes 1-3 hrs to complete.

Is this the new trend across the board at WF? Do external candidates need to do the same thing?

A job offer from WF is like a marriage proposal from Henry VIII.

I know a manager used interview assessments to learn how to do everyone's job.

He posted a job for 2 years and interviewed everyone from different banks. Asking what, and how they do their work.

At the end of 2 years, he awarded the job to entry level foreign visa. We gave him a promotion to SVP.

It will be used to weed you out at a later date . They will claim you don’t have the necessary competencies .

I never had to do an assessment when I interviewed or when hired there.

Had about 3 assessments for communications. Each one came about a month or 2 after the last one. After 6 months, they still couldn't figure out who to hire.

Laid off last year, and I've had an assessment for every job I've applied to elsewhere before the first interview. Most have been reasonable.

I did an assessment for my first role. And there was a deadline for submission. It probably helps weed out people who do great interviews but are mediocre

No doubt this is a McKinsey approach. Get used to AI testing and grading you. Some managers have worked 20 years at this bank and still do not have a clue how to manage. A-s Kissers are going to be booted out. Now the bank needs to employee assessments evenly to both US and I&P recruits.

This is part of a big push for a culture change. The belief is that there is a lot of cronyism with many incompetent or underwhelming employees who have been collecting big paychecks for many years and blocking positions for more motivated and qualified people.

I had to do one recently and it was ridiculously deceptive. I've been performing the duties of the role for over 10 yrs and the way it was written looked AI generated and intentionally confusing.

I submitted it (to prove I could ace it and they lost a great candidate due to their BS) and then withdrew my application. I don't need the head games. FU WF.

I interviewed for a few recently and no assessment was required. Maybe it’s role dependent.

Also, the assessments are sent out of the blue end of day on Fridays to your work email address with a 24 hr window to complete. So if you miss that email, come Monday you're no longer considered.
