Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Splunk 8000 employees. Cisco laid off 4000 and another 4000 next yr coming.

Met someone higher up in the chain. They told me Splunk has 8000 employees and Cisco is planning a 2 phase layoff (4000 done laat week) and another one will happen next yr same timish.

Cisco will absorb 8000 Splunk folks with $4B extra revenue keeping headcount almost flat.

Also mentioned that Splunk has done an agreement with Cisco that none of their employees will get impacted for 36 mnths after the merger.

I wonder if Cisco does plan massive layoffs? Is Splunk like actually under Cisco now? I know it says "a Cisco company", but probably got an intern to do that. Splunk was so fat. They had so many people doing very little. People would be drinking and smoking on zooms cause so little to do. Cornya$$ company. Super weird.

I worked as a temp at Cisco for a manager who had ZERO knowledge of the department's subject matter, repeatedly mentioned that he used to work at Boeing (so much so that it was practically a drinking game...), told me repeatedly to ignore directions and instructions from company lawyers & legal subject matter experts, told me not to work on anything until he met with me - & then cancelled every meeting he scheduled with me, commented on my hair, intimated that we should meet for drinks, & then got caught in writing lying about me. When I quit & said he should be removed from his role, his manager told me, "he's staying." So... I really hope BOTH my former manager & his manager who blindly deferred to him are part of these mass lay-offs.

Did you think Cisco otherwise wouldn't have layoffs for the first year since 2000?

Do you also think Cisco won't hire over the next two years as they have after other layoffs?

It seems odd the both Cisco and Splunk would have a three year no layoff policy when both lay off their own employees. There have to be better ways to give Splunk some runway before Cisco goes all penny wise and pound foolish on them. They'll learn to pump out three months of code in three weeks and spend three tears fixing it soon enough.

Come on, dude. You had to go to “someone higher up in the chain” to find out Splunk has 8,000 employees? You can get that info from yahoo.com under the profile tab
