While contractors aren't replacing us . . . . yet . . . . . they most assuredly are working along side us. My group has almost a dozen of them. Doing the same work, at a much higher rate of pay ( because they have no other benefits, like healthcare or retirement ).

The company cites too much work and not enough bodies, yet they refuse to replace anyone who retires or leaves the company with a full time employee.

And the Union is 100% behind this decision. Trust me, we asked. Had Legal, Labor Relations and Union reps on a conference call.

We were under the impression that Contract Labor was not allowed to do Union work yet, here we are.

I've never been impressed with CWA but this is crazy.

If you can, it would be my recommendation to leave the Union at your earliest convenience because they ceased having their members interests as their driving force a long time ago. In my opinion, the only reason we even get a raise is because Union Dues are a percentage of base pay. Thus, as our pay increases, so too does the Union's pay.

They could give two sh*ts about healthcare costs because it's not money out of their pocket.

Maybe when they start bleeding members, they'll get a clue and actually do something useful for once.

Insight. Every new contract is worse than the previous.

Time to fire CWA, they are in bed with the company. We aren’t making any gains, paying more and more for healthcare, wage increases have fell way behind inflation, allowing consolidation of titles (losing division of labor), allowing more work to be transferred from higher paid titles to entry level techs for less pay and the cash balance match is terrible. Need to get enough signatures on a petition to disqualify CWA as our representatives and sign up with the Teamsters. I think it takes a couple of thousand signatures.

Every contract they put on the a Shakespearian play, about bargaining in good faith, we are losing ground every contract. It affects everyone below the c-suite.

The union will offer up a 20% raise in insurance premiums while offering a 4% wage increase over the life of the contract and crow about “how we really got them this time..” In the meantime the union upper echelons will continue to hobnob around D.C., going to all the right places and parties while explaining how they “are fighting for you every single day”

Oops, you’re not possibly that ignorant are you? Stop reading the union propaganda, and certainly don’t buy anything expensive.

Again, most can’t go 25mins without pay. Watch. Some will walk. Many will cross. Mark my words.

Trouble ticket 1st AM, next residential Fiber installation, followed by late business install. You’ll break your new boots in quick.

It's not us versus them. Regardless of whether you're management or union, we're all in the same boat here.

The real problem is leadership.

"Management" should unionize as well. Many of the non-supervisory roles are eligible for FLSA protection.

Good one, the company can’t even get any subs/contractors to hang around very long to install fiber in the neighborhoods. It takes them forever to complete and they don’t show up everyday. Most of the workers, speak very little english, how’s that going to work out? Those of us who are life long employees can’t hardly figure out the daily changes to our systems, software and we’ve lost access to a lot other tools too.

Nobody believes that there are enough contractors/vendors just waiting around with a trained workforce for a possible strike. H$ll we can’t even get any training, good try through, might have worked in the 1920’s when a lot of workers were ignorant, not so much now. Just watch your videos and pray you don’t have to dispatch in or out.

Don’t break the union! Let them do their jobs and let them fight for FAIR. Not like any of us management folk have that opportunity. We will get kicked to the curb if we disagree. Unions have been around for years, they have their place. No Im not union but all of my relatives were or are. Just let them go do what they gotta do, just like we do. And perhaps look into a union job or talk your kids into it. It’s needed and they have incredible retirement benefits. Just saying

“ Love the company gaslighters, we will strike if needed, count on it.”

Lol, who cares , the company has vendors/ contractors waiting at half the cost and twice the skill. Union doesn’t have the guts to stay out for any length of time. Union employees have overstayed their welcome here.

Given current events I'd suggest that non bargained are being "kindly" asked to separate from the company by some less than honorable means.

If you are non bargained, you have overstayed your welcome here. You know this and yet, you try to deny it. You cannot save yourself. The company is finally tidying up and removing redundant garbage, and brother, the trash truck is running on unlimited overtime.

Looking forward to T stock getting back above $25.

Ah yes. The phantom army of unemployed telecomm workers, waiting for years upon years to be called into service at a moments notice in case of a strike.
They wait so patiently...

You might be "leadership" material at AT&T. Now Go LIVE YOUR DESITINATION!
Lose your house, your wife and all of your toys. It's coming for you, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. You know this and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Love the company gaslighters, we will strike if needed, count on it. Happened for a short time in SE 2019, can happen again for much longer. Get your climbing boots ready, make sure it has a defined heal. We are just looking for a fair contract, with some job security.

Company can’t even get management to RTO but they are going to be the contingency workforce. LOL, that is rich! You just thought you’ve heard whining before, wait till they have to do some physical work along with the mental. If a strike happens, it won’t last long.

20 years ago a "manager" came come craft. They knew the job and could muddle though a 1 week strike. Not the case anymore. They still had muscle mass, and could still do the job.
You will sleep though the online courses, (You know you do). Those that are unfortunate enough to have go to CP assignment know that failure is what awaits you. AT&T will not compensate you for your efforts when you are far from your home.

Stankey has an empty hand and he knows this.

Maybe, just maybe THIS time the company will break the Union. The company tried a few times before. This time is different. No really, it is. That time some time ago, and allow us not to forget all of those other times before, the Company was going to break the Union.
This time is going to be different though with a CP workforce that doesn't know what city or State their job will be in 6 months, and has ZERO expectation of continued employment if they relocate. The CP workforce is ENERGIZED!!!

Stankey, you have 2 and 7 off suits.

"Don’t expect anything close to what UPS and the auto manufacturers got. UAW and Teamsters negotiators are in a completely different league than C-Dub."

I would look a little closer at those contracts. We have CWA union desk jobs making more per hour than the highest paid UAW plant worker.

Had a relative that worked at an industrial site back in the 60’s. Being they were top heavy the industrial company was able to run with just the managers at the time of a strike. When the strike was settled the company only called back, using seniority, the number of workers it needed. The remaining employees were on hold never to be called back. A few months later the management layers were cut more than in half. Hope that kind of thing will not happen here.

Maybe D6 should ask for same contract as D9

by
| | Reply
Post ID: @1irh+1ra9Wubf

Severance in D9 is so much higher than D6. 60 weeks pay at at 22 years service with another 4 weeks added for each year of service. Severance can go as high as $280k
We have employees with 50 years service nowadays. All 12 sick days are protected days. Might as well be vacation days. These contracts are all different with D9 being remarkably better.

Hold out, CWA D3-SE will join you later this year in negotiations and we can strike together, if needed. We struck last negotiations in 2019 because the company was bargaining in bad faith. Company changed their bargaining team and a tentative agreement was quickly put together. Save your money while you still have time, we are.

Scenario A: less $’s among more workers
Scenario B: more $’s among fewer workers (ie layoffs)
Unions don’t increase total wealth. They just allocate it among their members.
