Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

So little talk of layoffs

Should I take that as a good sign?

HBT- now BA is RIFing fairly heavily right now. Got rid of a lot of factory floor workers and customer facing people along with some engineers.

My plant is next to a graveyard. You too will be able to join the people who are over there. Don’t worry Honeywell will have plenty of layoffs. They also will have PIPs and RIF.

Intelligrated in central Europe is RIFing people. Both design and factory. Quite a lot.

@9fla+1raHAUuT If we get our MIP that is. Delayed merit might signal minimal or no MIP.

There will be a wave once MIP is paid out

Good for you. Slapped , kicked, beaten and you don’t even recognize it.
I on the other hand did notice. I left with no RIF or severance and now I have a hobby of telling the truth to the people who ask. I talked about Honeywell over dinner with customers in Singapore just recently. I talk about Honeywell with vendors who sell me metal work ( Honeywell doesn’t pay bills on time).
Reputation matters more than ever now. Honeywell hasn’t quite figured out that failing to pay employees and vendors and failing to deliver on time to customers as a result is going to impact business.
So think about it… Honeywell hurts employees enough to create vocal critics that damage the reputation for years.
That said… job market is going south and lots of people are going back to Honeywell as an employer of last resort. You do what you have to do to feed your family.

A good sign to me would be massive layoffs. Then I'd take my going away present and just go away. To somewhere else where I feel that I can have an impact.

I would love to say that it is a good sign but sadly I foresee significant pain on its way, I am having all my reqs denied by leadership and still being asked to cut costs even though we are down to the bone.
We can not operate like this, the business is failing across the board internally, it is simply breaking down. I echo the sentiment of others, it is going to get real tough.

So many Honeywell haters out there, too bad. I started out in AlliedSignal and did well in the company, I worked hard because I believed in their products and the company treated me fairly. All of you whiners out there, you do minimum work or do the extra work and complain about it and you wonder why you get bad reviews? You are all caught in stupid politics of every single decision made by the company because you are ALL looking for reasons to bi--h and complain about Honeywell. Did you ever think when you don't perform that you will get great reviews, big salary increases, promotions? Your concerns should be on your personal life needs and does my current job help me with my personal life needs along with my financial responsibilities in my life. Do I like my job, do I like the team I work with? If you have issues with my comment, you need to leave Honeywell, they will replace you with someone who wants YOUR Honeywell Position!

There will be another round for IA soon. Also the coming closure of the LON Intelligrated plant. I didn't sign an NDA but many did

Yep, quiet layoffs is a great description. I was recently hit and it was a small number but kept quiet.
For me it was a great thing. I was getting close to moving on so I am one of the fortunate ones that didn't get hurt by the RIF.

They over did it in last 4 years and are holding back for a while, trouble is they near permanently damaged the business in the process so get ready for the impact of that in the next couple of years.

Add to that the global economy is in really, really bad shape however with a huge year of elections worldwide the western governments / MSM are trying to convince you otherwise even as you witness daily the spiraling costs and decline. I have family split between UK and US, hearing the same shocking parallels. I'd say don't get too comfortable, we are in for a bumpy ride.

Agree, the volatility has calmed down recently but what worries me now is that very little has actually changed or showing improvement!
We are still without direction, hugely under invested and lacking any actual leaders then to make matters worse we are absent the experienced and qualified colleagues we used to rely upon.
My 'leadership' have resorted to employing people from non related industries and some without any relevant qualifications at all! Gawd help us, it is not sustainable and chatting in the cafe to other groups it is the same story across the board.

It's not if there is going to be a layoff, it's when. Aero in PHX had 22,000+ FTE's 10 years ago. Now, less than 10,000. Did the company shrink? Did the annual revenue decline? I would guess another 50% reduction in the next 10 years. If your under 50, leave while you can. Everyone else, GOD SPEED!

Not at all. If you’re in the states at least! Corporate functions are fair game for the chopping block. Already many in IT supply chain and finance. Good luck to those still there. You may want to buy some scratch off lottery tickets to hedge.

Nope. Efforts are underway to perform “quiet layoffs”. That is, push as many out as possible by subtle means. Honeywell is ALWAYS looking to cut costs, and they view you as a cost. If they can meet goals with attrition, they’ll get loud with the layoffs again. Also, people are getting laid off outright still. They just do it on the DL, a few here, a few there, spread out across business and functions so it’s not so noticeable.
