Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Layoff veterans

How many layoff rounds have you survived since you joined Verizon? I'm talking about major rounds, not the small cuts that happen all the time. I'm relatively new here and I already have two under my belt. I can't imagine how high that number is for people who have been here for a decade or more.

Funny how I have been IP banned from this site since a few posts and have to use VPN now.

I was a 25 year employee (MCI/Worldcom/Verizon) and a Veteran as well. Got hit Q4 2023. No reason other than just on the list for being there to long and too highly paid. Anyone with 20+ years is on the list every time..it's just a matter of if you are the highest paid and if your Director/Manager doesn't like you or subscribes to DEI and Ageism. None of which you can prove because none of them talk to about why your were RIFed.

21 years, lost count of RIF’s, missed out on the VSP 2019. Use the company to gain skills and abilities and always be ready to move on. The layoffs are a quarterly trend with no end in site. From 2000 to current, the headcount has been cut in half. The onion is being peeled back slowly.

27 yrs. MCI--WORLDCOM-VERIZON.....so far haven't been on any list that I am aware of. Back in the day layoffs were very few and far between. Now you basically have to worry for the phone call Thursday mornings pay weeks.
