Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

A big decision is coming?!?

So according to some, CR is about to make another BIG decision.

With MM's departure could he be thinking of giving all services to partners? Moving all of CX to regional partners?

You are so accurate on what a mess she created. Thanks for pointing it out. People need to know it; it's the facts! Nothing but the facts of how much of a mess she's created for us. At least she got found out. It might be too late, but they need to take action to remove Alistair Wildman, Harry Caldwell, Thimaya, and Jason McClaren. No one but Maria thinks they are even close to leaders.

Everyone talks about it from Sales through CX, and I'm betting the BU's also. I'm speculating on the BUs, but I know for certain CX and Sales think Alistair, Harry, Thimaya, and Jason are the most worthless Cisco resources we've ever seen. Other great leaders already exist but were overlooked by Maria/Alistair. Those lack of leaders need to go for Cisco to save itself.

Would not be surprised, recently heard that CX (As) is "Margin diluting". Having been involved in a few CAP inducing Partner F' ups where AS had to clean up the mess... cutting off this vital organ is likely to go spiffngly 😀

Bold plan...let's see how that works out for you Chuck

How many times Cisco engineers have fixed partner's sc--w up? I still have the list of the ones I did. Cisco has to be involved 100%, because only Cisco has a army of engineers and experts.

100% partner would never work. Cisco account teams do a MASSIVE role keeping the customer good. Not sure how account team/Cisco could ever drop out the loop, everything is just too complex with TAC and licenses.
That said and agreed, I think something BIG is in the works in this area and will be announced soon and it will involve technical sales in some way. Presales is just too expensive. Microsoft and others have no where near as many pre sales tech people as Cisco does.

Giving services to partners would constitute a "Big Decision"? I really doubt that would move the needle on anything. If we all fundamentally step back and look at what Cisco does have....

  1. A field team very close to the enterprise end customer who can influence buying patterns
  2. Goodwill from customers who when the going got tough (weather through their own fault, or that of Cisco) were going to get a full team of experts ready to jump in and make you successful / overcome barriers
  3. Protect you as you invest in Cisco - in that "nobody gets fired for buying Cisco" that was prevalent when I was a customer
  4. A true advocate as I as a Cisco employee would steer them towards solid products, and away from "CAP in a Box" that were pressured on them be remote SJC execs hocking their products

When that is matched by compelling products (never organically grown, but an acquisition on a yearly cycle) to offer value then the revenue just flows in. These tiny "technology acquisitions" dont cut it, and this splunk thing is very old (I cannot imagine the makeup of the investor advisory committee) points to just rudderless leadership.

  1. Buy & Hire (AND FUND) new innovations in AI networking, stacks, automation, systems, etc.
  2. Abandon the cloud native cr-p - they all know it far better than us, don't need us, stop the noise
  3. Invest in new business models to compete with Greenlake, APEX, and other methods to position and grow at our customer revenues grow
  4. Wipe out the ELT, and next 2 layers down - they are acclimated to the visceral culture and cult behavior that looking at any new ideas expose them to a decapitation
  5. Re-invest in a quality TAC (and stop calling this cr-p CX) which once was a backbone of solid positive Cisco vibes when I was a customer (That Thimaya guy strikes me kind of like Hannibal Lecter...)

Todays Nvidia call... OPEX grew by a very large %.. but they said is was for investment in new areas of growth, investment in headcount... etc. The stock is up more in 1 night than Cisco in 5 years!!!

Board? Hello? Are you there? Just knock if you can hear me.... Is there anyone at home???

Cisco Partners could never provide the same level of expertise and service Cisco provides directly to its customers. We all have seen this over and over.

I could see that happening as it would provide more incentives to partners to sell Cisco kit

Absolutely not. Anyone that has spent any time in the field know we would be dead if we went 100% partner. They have the opportunity to sell anything, and for instance if Product X is 10% more margin rich for them and the customer is OK with it - then guess what they sell. In terms of complex solutions (think big Enterprise and Banks) without our services team making sh*t work we'de be out of business.

Our Partners are selling against us so there is no services for them.
