Tips for volunteering?

A few folks have asked about this, but I would like to hear tips and advice from anyone who has successfully volunteered to be laid off. How and who to talk to? HRBP?

If I don’t get the call this week I really want to volunteer. Honestly. If anyone has volunteered for layoff/severance and got it I want to know how you did it.

This sort of probing and discussion is sensitive and confidential and I don’t know how to get the conversation started without risking it leaking back to my team. So I’m asking.

If you do this I hope you understand just how bad the job market is. You’ll likely be unemployed for 6-12 months unless you already have another role secured.

No they don’t want you to do this. Don’t listen to that guy. As much as it feels bad, that bad feeling isn’t the goal. That’s silly emotional logic.

This may work but if it doesn’t, you’ll be pushed out as if you’d quit.

The consultants don’t care who wants to go and who wants to stay.

This is what they want you to do. Don’t let them with the game

The only people given the option are being demoted
