Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Cyber security- the slow agonizing demise.

We are witnessing in real time the destruction of an entire services business with over 1,100 employees caught in the cross hairs.

Pathetic leadership that communicates almost NOTHING. EVER. An absent leadership team. Where is Paul Rosenbaum?! He runs this unit and hasn’t been sighted in months.

Nothing from the top regarding where things are at or what is next or when. When will we be kicked out of AT&T? What is our last day?

We were told benefits calls for the healthcare insurance would be this week. It’s radio silence. No invites and no communication on why we haven’t seen it. Will I lose my doctor? Should I cancel my knee replacement surgery? Should I move up my family planning and get invitro fertilization next week while I know it’s still covered???

The treatment of employees is absolutely shocking. No retention bonuses to stay, which are standard in these situations. Just Vague and week promises of potential stuff coming from “the buyer” mean NOTHING! Where is the buyer for that matter? Does he not care that people are plotting their exit from this circus? That the refusal to show up and show that they will care about people and treat employees with respect, like humans rather cattle they bought at a fire sale auction?

AT&T is getting exactly what they deserve for how they are treating us. Every one I know is working on their resumes and applying for jobs and interviewing. Resignations have already started and will snowball in the wake of the shock of what we have seen and experienced in the last 2 weeks.

What a nightmare. Not how I expected my AT&T career to end.

Quit quitting for me in the meantime. Wake me up when this is all over.

Trust me. On good authority, There are 5 people (you can easily guess who) that were given a very nice retention incentive (likely hundreds of thousands of $$ each) to lead this train wreck to the finish line. And that is why they gaslight you and act so indifferent to what is happening. They are completely set and the rest of us can fend for ourselves.

Sending an email claiming that you care about the employees without taking any actions on the concerns of the employees is fruitless. This is what narcissists do.
No one has addressed the elephant in the room. Nowhere does it say they will address the issues and the concerns of the affected employees.

AT&T is sort of like a serial ki-ler, as they ki-l more and more, they need more and more stimulation to get off. They used to just mu---r business units, now with Pascal at the helm of finance, they slowly massacre them savoring each dying breath.

A lot of T cyber employees are going to be shocked at how they will be treated they apply to external companies. Qualifications will be expected.

T could have been a leader in Cyber…senior leadership didn’t get it or invest properly…. You don’t put people with no cyber experience in top positions as they did repeatedly….Alienvault acquisition was a colossal mistake… which exec was behind that? Lots of good people in cyber unit…they deserve better from The StankyStink…

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you have no idea what the organization’s profitability is and that you’re talking out of your -ss. The business case for selling was likely much more benign: a quick way to hit our headcount reduction targets. And let’s be honest, we don’t really like most of the leadership in that organization anyway so it’s a win-win.

I agree with most of what you said though, seriously missed opportunity and they have no idea what a hole it will leave in their portfolio relative to their nearest competitor (Verizon) after it’s gone.

No one should be shocked. This is exactly what happens when a company basically says, “ This is not a viable , profitable business for us to retain completely”. The minute they announced this, a hundred red flags should have gone up for everyone. They were however telling everyone what they wanted to hear, a new vibrant company full of opportunity and direction. That hasn’t materialized and likely will fall far short of what the brochure said. Very sad for the employees. T should be ashamed of how they squandered the opportunity 5 - 6 years ago when Cybersecurity was fresh and the T brand carried weight, they unfortunately missed the boat.
