Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Why Can’t ELT be Honest & Transparent on MM Firing?

On Cisco Internal Page, smiling Picture of Maria Martinez (ex COO, CX) with article on MM leaving and no mention of her being fired!! At least ELT could be honest so similar sins are not repeated and described reasons on why is she allowed to depart gracefully with a huge $33m golden parachute.

What are the lessons learned? So many innocent life at Cisco have been sacrificed for MM incompetency and lack of leadership skills, will those folks LRed ever recoup and recover?

It common sense.

If you accept the mistake publicly, then you will have to accept the incompetence in hiring so poorly at EVP level, which raises doubts on hiring practice at Cisco leadership levels and how many such incompetent leaders still are languishing around?

Guess who bought this incompetent person at the first place? (Cough cough CEO)

If you’ve been at Cisco long enough it’s transparent enough when the email from Chuck says: so and so is leaving to spend more time with family and pursue other interests.

Don't waste you energy on things out of your control. Take care of your own business. Our lives are hard enough without worrying about boardroom politics. Look after yourselves. Start a side hustle .

Hogs can wallow at the trough for so long, once they are full, they should be put out to pasture.

A waste of thousands of good peoples' lives. Pitiful.

Wondering if MM’s bobble heads are nervous yet?

Because Chuck lies. Repeatedly. Always. Pathologically.

Chuck already addressed this. He said “would you want your performance review to be made public?” But 1) I’m good at my job so sure and 2) I think executives can be held to a higher/more public standard.

All those folks who were LR'ed by MM should be re-hired back with full backpay and a letter of apology.

Clearly, this is your first corporate job. Stick around, pay attention and you may learn something besides switching and routing.

Because the character traits of transparency & accountability are not embraced by this leadership. And — they’re not going to change.

The idea that a company of Cisco's size doesn't need a separate COO seems really bizarre, particularly since they could have settled for the more traditional "they left to spend time with their families" or "they left to pursue other opportunities." Explicitly saying "fired" at that level is a legal and political mess almost no one on any side ever wants and those "polite" phrases would have covered it (up.)

While firing implies individual failure, terminating the position says the person doing it made it clear there was nothing of merit to be done there so the CEO can absorb all that work without impact to their existing work. That brings into question "why did the CEO allow this role to go on for so long?" It just seems worse for everyone.
