When I left over a year ago Wells was trying to become an agile environment.
Colocation benefits agile development by:
I bet the execs are going around and saying agile is failing at Wells because there is a lack of colocation.
I think TK isn’t collaborating enough because her peers are in NYC. Tell her not to move to NYC. Maybe they will eliminate her role and hire someone in HY.
Teams is the best collaborative tool and Bangalore folks know this
Heard someone saying 20k a year reduction in headcount is a nice target—any town halls discussing this yet..when CS has defined why all the execs are not pushing it out..
The collaboration mantra is a farce. A ton of people work on teams that are all over the place even in the same metro area. My previous 3-4+ managers lived elsewhere. For the past decade plus nobody I worked with lived in my city let alone same building. The only exception being my last position where my manager and two people were in my city. boss got laid off. The people I work the most with are all in different cities and one in India. We collaborate just fine without being collocated.
Which is how we know it's not a location strategy at all.
Don't worry they just get rid of all the US folks, problem solved. From their perspective this is the obvious solution.
The only in person collaboration going on is WF c-suite execs flying across the globe together to plot and prop up India & the Philippines and tear down the US employees.
When they say "better collaboration", what they really mean is "better excuse/PR cover the fire people". Shart doesn't want to just go on TV and tell the truth that he wants to eliminate the absolute maximum number of US jobs possible.
