Layoff rumors for 2/29?

Anyone heard anything?

Hard to believe any leader would be that open given the level of confidentiality required. And severance has not changed in years, despite the recurring discussions.

VGS will continue to see reductions coupled with offshoring - Ireland was the latest, and won't be the last. GNT just outsourced part of their business, and they probably are not done. GTS outsourced Fios in 2019, and continues rely on contractors.

@4qvg+1rhxeU4S I was not aware that a RIF last June had an enhanced severance package. I thought that only applied to the 2018 VSP/

Severance packages have not changed and can be found on the eweb. Standard package is 2 weeks per year of service capped at 35 weeks (Band 6 and below). Plus unused vacation, unused personal days (state dependent) and prorated STI (if elig). Your current medical is paid for the length of your severance and you are provided with career transition services. Any stock together awards you have immediately vest and are paid. If you are retirement and pension eligible, you'd also want to contact benefits for a pension or lump sum calculation.

Being let go is hard, especially if you've been here a long time, but the company does provide a decent severance package compared to some companies. I know, I've been there. I check in here from time to time and it seems like the pace of layoffs and outsourcing has really accelerated in the last few years. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Our group’s head boss in Tulsa had a kickoff last week and told us that layoff conversations are being discussed now for June in VGS. Rank and stack is happening at all levels to identify individuals. We were told the RIF package will be less than last June’s. Corporate Security and IT are involved for remote workers to identify people that aren’t active for at least 6 hours a day along with people not reporting to their assigned offices with badge swipes. They also said that those not coming in will be identified and start getting emails of concern in the coming weeks. The June RiF will impact between 7%-10% of VGS and there will be an IT stoppage of some major projects. This was all done as a safe space talk but didn’t make my team feel like we would be around after June!!!!

It's Verizon, it's what they do. They have no growth strategy. Just cut. If you're offered package, smile, take it and dance out the door.

Goodbye useless techs in NYC. 1/3 on disability, 1/3 on suspension, and the last 1/3 get by because they aren’t as bad as the other 2/3’s.

I think they've got my number. I never gave much thought to vetting a hiring manager or investigating who my stakeholders would be because my main goal was always to get the promotion. I ended up in a bad situation with a bad manager and went from being on the fast track to enemy number one. It's just such a sad end... turning a great employee into someone that h*tes work.
