Now that I know what my fate is going to be in a couple of weeks/ months, I was thinking why would I complete any task at hand?

HR knows that those affected may reduce their effort so they are advising leaders to raise the bar on meeting expectations. You’ll be terminated for cause rather than be displaced with severance.
Its war
You should keep doing your job. Just b/c you're remote doesn't mean you're going to get laid off. You might get relo or your position might not be impacted right away. Better to just keep doing the work and see how it plays out. In the meantime, keep on building skills and contingency planning. Worse case, you get laid off and get severance. Better than being let go with no severance.
FRTO, today, tomorrow, and forever. I will never, under any circumstances, enforce it because it's morally repugnant and not in the company's or employee's best interests. At the same time, I'll swipe badges enough to ensure I get my severance when the time comes, because F Shart.
Hard to feel motivated when you are a sitting duck. My manager seems to be doing everything possible to make me want to quit before I get a package.
Good question. First work on and for yourself -- not the bank. Realize that your career is more than your job at this bank. Understand that you should be quietly quitting. Write down the costs and benefits of quietly quitting. Costs are no chance for advancement, having to put up with a bad environment, and being in a place your your career is not growing. Benefits are your severance, time to enhance your skills (including job-finding skills), time to learn new skills (like AI and/or meditation), and time to learn how to act like you're doing something when you actually are not.
Don’t be a Blue Falcon. Someone is going to be forced to carry the load you won’t. Neither your peers nor your manager had any say in the location strategy.
I mean if you want to roll the dice and be fired (no severance) vs laid off (severance) then go ahead!
Because you have professional integrity
How about a big covid-24 , Everything goes to be buried. Let us hope for that.
What is impact for those who are following RTO guidelines but not in a core or strategic location?
I’m a part of this too. I’m going to work until my last day and happily take my severance!
I wouldn’t give up completely just yet. Who knows what’s going to happen with this “location strategy”. For all you know, you may at least be offered relocation. But you’ll definitely face some consequence if you give up
They may offer you a relocation package
Because performance is also related to personal pride and ethics.
It will reflect on your character and in this world who you are is a reflection of your actions.
Check out like everyone else.
Don't forget to enter your draft goals for 2024 in workday
Be careful. They can still terminate you for cause if your performance drops -- even during 60-day notice period, when you're still an employee. It could affect your ability to get unemployment, too.
Don't give them any am mo.
Don't hand the company a victory by giving them a reason to fire rather than displace you. It's definitely a challenge right now, but do your best work. Currently I have colleagues (who I thought were friends) marginalizing me because they know I have a displacement target on my back (remote in a non-core location). I'm dropped from meeting lists, not sent information I would have received in the past, etc. I make a very visible effort to continue offering my help on projects. No one will be able to say I gave up. It's entertaining to highlight their bad behavior by continuing to model exemplary behavior. They are the sort of people this company will be left with. So, cheer up -- that's not somewhere you want to work long term.
if you aren't working perhaps they will see you are not and fire you before you get a severance.
Just come to the office and also do nothing here like most of the people. Nobody wants to be here lol. Every face so sad or numbed
I’m also remote and understand feeling this way. Where they can “get us” is if we reduce our contribution so much they could justify giving an Inconsistently Meets or head us towards a PIP and get us out by term vs severance. Granted, terminations take a LONG time to happen unless it’s blatant misconduct but I wouldn’t put anything past CS and company. Also, they are dragging this efficiency strategy ON & ON and saying this will be done in waves over the next 2 years. So I could be gone next month or next year. Or the year after?
If this was really about location strategy, I would have expected remote employees outside of hubs to be the very first to go or supposedly some to be offered relocation to a hub. Guess we’ll see.
Exactly! A full day of work in California is 4 hours. Enjoy Charlie!!
It does benefit the company if you start to fade in your productivity levels. Think of it as a preview of what WF can expect without you around.
In same situation BUT pride in your own work should be motivation enough!
I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be looking for another job wright now while waiting on that severance package to show up
Sorry to hear for you - don’t wish that on anyone
