Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

5 days in office

Objective: push attrition (people to leave)

It’s coming.

People will leave and Nike won’t need to shell out $$$$ in severances

I'm pretty sure there's multiple studies out there proving the hybrid model is a better working model, and that unlimited PTO is a sham for big companies and not in the employees best interests. Why would Nike go back in time with all of this change while talking such a big game about being more innovative as a company? Also, one should assume Nike's fearless leader/Chief Executive/$30m man will be in office 5 days per week right? Or...maybe everyone at Nike is just getting played.

@cyh+1riPql2y, you are correct! Prior to Covid, nobody left before 5:30 pm, or they'd get the side-eye, and people would question their commitment to the brand.

Unless you are out of the BATC that no one enforced until Jan 8. The people they kept in BATC over the ones who adhered to hybrid in WHQ now get to be remote with higher pay since they just closed that office.

@cyh+1riPql2y Spot on! If you left before 5:30pm, people would give you skeptical looks and wonder if you were really doing your job.

Bunch of jealous haters.

Upgrade your skills if you’re big mad that some other peon has 1 single aspect of their life better than yours.

Cr--s can find their own door out since that’s all you talk about.

Y’all be so annoying with your in the past mess. Like yea in the past women and black people couldn’t vote. Clearly as progressive not regressive thought became more prominent, those silly laws were changed. 40 hour work weeks were passed for factory workers who had been working 70 plus hours. Now the 40 hour work week and working remote are seen as regressive , because why am i working in the same way as factory workers who didn’t have the help of technology. It’s outdated , so to even raise your hackles because people are ready for change that we already experienced and it worked is really crazy. Y’all are the problem with Nike, stagnation and an immediate rejection of new or independent thought .

Can't believe you all survived layoffs ( for now) and are complaining about RTO! It seems just a bunch of entitled loosers working here! I have worked for companies who were 5 days in the office during COVID! A lot of jobs out there are not remote either. If this is so hard to be 5 days in office, then seek jobs elsewhere... No one is stopping you.

Prior to Covid, Nike was never very supportive of WFH. You had to apply for one day and needed VP approval for 2 days. WFH was looked down on in general.

As a product company, I personally prefer 6 or 7 day RTO so we can all be more innovative and have that creative spark/fuel/fire thingy going. I also love spending half of my day (life) commuting (by listening to podcasts and prepping for my day). On the way back, I make phone calls to other friends and family who are also commuting back from their Nike jobs. My wife cooks hot meals every day when I go home at 7. She also makes sure I feel better after a long day by gently massaging my back. She understands I had a long productive day at work here at Nike producing worlds greatest sneakers and apparel., Camera zooms out.

As a product company, RTO5 makes sense, with Tim Cook in the board, RTO is definitely supported at board level, employees don't have the bargain power, that's the sad fact. Only silver line is to get rid of those expensive d-mb Kohl's people by doing RTO5.

Productivity has flatlined, what would one more flippant, destructive dig at employees be to ensure it stays that way? The geniuses leading this circus really don't grasp there's basically no upper limit to people quietly mailing it in.

Crazy to think we started with at least decent engagement before JD. Real top tier minds we have at the wheel.

Was just laid off. Can confirm: would be happy to RTO for having my job back. It’s rough out there.

Been mentioned here it is happening plenty of times. It will in fact be brought up in the all employee meeting this week.
