Company operated retail store (CORS) employees were reported separately ...The listing above is regular employees. Note: with the sale of gas stations we were able to reduce numbers of terminals and drivers...Plus XOM sold over 15 refineries including all of Downstream in Japan and several refineries. The upstream sold off most of the inland US (before XTO), most of North Sea is gone (mostly non-op), most of GOM is gone, most of CA is gone. Can probably sell Malaysia and Aus (ex Gorgon), EG, Angola, N-g and rest of North Sea over next 10 years.

We sold the remaining 2000 gasoline stations in circa 2008.

Exxon to Sell Off Retail Gasoline Stations
JUNE 13, 2008

Exxon Mobil says it is getting out of the U.S. retail gas business. You're still going to see Exxon Mobil signs with the familiar tiger logo, but yesterday the company announced it will sell the 2,200 or so gas stations that it still owns. Most Exxon-branded gas stations are already owned by independent dealers or distributors, and now that's going to be the case for all of them.

Beth Evans with Platts Oilgram News says despite the high cost of buying gas, profit margins from selling gas at the retail level in the U.S. are very low.

Do the early years consider gas station employees as US employees? I thought they were considered Exxon employees for quite some time.

Not nearly enough attrition for $6B in cost savings. 5-8% PIPs over next three years should help.
