Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco over the hill, down hill from here only unless…

Think this over:

Cisco technical talent is leaving or made to leave, including talented folks with real achievements and even CCIE Certified. No value seen by leaders.

Cisco is TOP heavy full of managers and directors who set the strategy only to reverse, and another set of new strategies. Cycle continues and this is what is happening last 10+ years. Cisco needs a “leaning” strategy cutting these useless managers.

Short term vs long term growth in key areas like AI & automation. Giving market share to others is not a winning strategy.

Don't know it is just me. Looking around, I see directors and tech leads who have no technical skills. What they do the whole time is to ping individuals and ask for status. Shouldn't these people be LR'ed? OP is right that Cisco indeed is very TOP heavy.

Since MM arrived, VP’ roles were inserted everywhere. Decision making shifted upward and changed to top down with no tolerance for constructive feedback or different perspectives. They were tasked to transform but had no plans how to transform. So they blamed it on resistance and feedback, hence the great purge of knowledgeable and experienced people began a few years ago with anyone who spoke up and continues today as a cost cutting exercise.

Cisco does not care about technical qualifications like that.

The trees are coming into leaf
Like something almost being said;
The recent buds relax and spread,
Their greenness is a kind of grief
