I can't afford to get laid off right now. I can't afford to lose my medical coverage. It's not an option for me right now. Not to mention, I think the job market hasn't been worse in years. Who knows how long it would take me to find a new job. I'm worrying so much, I don't think I'll be able to get any sleep until this week is over.

"If the 60 day notice plus severance is not enough for you to find a new job then you should have been proactive in getting another job."
I can't emphasize how out of touch you are.
Why do you think that it will only be this week? There will be rolling layoffs for most of the year. If you don’t get cut this week, there 40 more weeks to come back to you .
is this your first time on this site? they typically give you a 60 day non working notice. they will cut your access the day they send you home but you technically still work for the bank the next 60 days and you'll get your normal paycheck post which severance will kick in. This will be all detailed out to you when they lay you off.
So I’m a bit confused do they give you 60 day notice or do they cut off your access by noon when they lay you off?
OP,
I can't tell you how many conversations that I've had with people over the past 18 months who have had the exact same feeling of anxiety. But one thing that I can tell you, that I have told them, is that I don't know a single person who has been laid off from this company, that hasn't called me later, and told me that they are in a much better place, with a higher paying job, and higher quality of life. 100%! Every person I know that has been laid off from this company over the past 18 months, and there are many of them, are happier and thriving.
I have no doubts that you will experience the same. It's frightening, it's uncomfortable, and it's worrisome but it's not the end of the road. You will make it and you will be better from it.
don't wait for them to lay you off before looking for a new job, be proactive and start looking. no one is safe with any company. and there are plenty of jobs out there, while they might not all be apples to apples I'm guessing there are plenty of options where you can at least get something resembling a paycheck plus health insurance.
If the 60 day notice plus severance is not enough for you to find a new job then you should have been proactive in getting another job. Waiting to be displaced is foolish.
Lose the victim mentality and skill up.
Hudson Yards comes to work every single day looking for new cruel ways to torment us. F them, every last one on them.
For WF execs, the cruelty is the point. They gaslight and toy with us like cats with mice.
Can’t even sleep thanks WF!
You are not alone.
Unfortunately 65-70% of American are living paycheck to paycheck. We are working cows for the government and the elites/big corporations.
I would suggest you take advantage of the available company’s trainings to gain new skills while looking for a side gig, pay off debts and stop using your credit cards. Save up for rainy days (3-6 months of reserves).
The storms are coming and it will be worse than the 2008 GFC.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
Couldn’t focus all day either they love torturing us
