Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

You will lose your prorated bonus if ...

If you are asked to move to a hub city and you accept, and then if you quit the company in November or December, you forfeit your prorated bonus for 2024 that will be paid in 2025. caveat emptor.

“They” have made it abundantly clear that if you do relocate there is no guarantee of employment for any duration of time as things change. It stands to reason if you agree to relocate, there is also no guarantee of continuing to choose to work for AT&T as things change.

I've seen both. Especially early on, around last May/June, a lot of people were spreading false info about promising to move and then getting severance later. We called them out back then, and will continue to do so.

  • “That post was probably in reference to the wrong claim, that keeps popping up from time to time, and terrible advice that should be ignored, that people can commit to move, then just ignore it, and wait to be laid off with severance at a later date. Like they can postpone their eventual lay-off by promising to move, and not going through with it. Which is completely false, and anyone who does this will be very disappointed, and sc--wed, when they find out they're not getting any severance or bonuses once they are terminated for non compliance.”

That ISNT the claim though, the people who are lying DONT CARE about severance. Most of them are people who have maybe worked at the company for 2-4 years and have a month or two of severance.

The play there is to lie say ‘sure ya bro I’ll move’ then take the 6-12 months to brush up skills and job hunt then just quit.

Obviously they don’t expect severance or a bonus if they just quit….like duh…but 6-12 months of wages out weighs the bonus and 1-2 months of severance combined.

You don't get a prorated bonus if you aren't on payroll at the end of the year, unless you retire (meet modified MR75) or are laid off. I assume declining the RTO offer is the same as being laid off.

**How can you be fired if you quit though?
And if you quit I think you understand you aren’t getting severance or unemployment.**
