Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Years of layoffs and loss of talent have destroyed T

Our products have become subpar, our customer service is nonexistent, and our overall reach has been constantly shrinking. Not to mention our reputation, which has never been worse. There's a good reason for this. You can't just keep getting rid of the top talent and not expect to see any consequences.

All VPs have their pets that they will protect/not get rid of. They will spin their work.
For example, they will say person is getting all this work done, when really it’s someone else — but the execs above VP don’t know so many are saved bc of who they know not what they do. Happens in our group all the time. If you speak against a VP favorite, you will targeted and driven out.
Company has to figure out a way to get real feedback and do something with it.
Hotlines don’t work - they stop at VP level.

Over $100 billion in unplayable debt will destroy any company. Why know one is suing RJS is beyond me.

AT&T (SBC) is a bad company that buys up good companies and makes them bad too.

This isn't your grandfather's AT&T anymore. Switchboard operator is no long considered top talent.

Look to the future, not the past. We are growing mobile and fiber subscribers. Shrinking landline business.

Got rid of unneeded and outdated workers. Doesn't make sense to keep workers that around that have little value. That's just bad business.
