Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Have a peer who won’t receive his yearly bonus due to RTO

Top performer who had around five hours of commute daily who chose to work instead. I know of too many in other groups that at best show up once a week and some only once a month.

ATT has always been more about metrics than results. No surprises here.

sounds like your peer thinks he's special, but he found out he's not and the rules apply to everyone

When you realize its about doing as you are told and not guessing at what you think you need to do…

Its funny how everyone thinks they're top performers.

Would happily forego the bonus to telecommute. Sounds like the noncompliant win again. No guts no glory.

Was this wave 1 or wave 2 employee?

  • “Fire good people and performers all the time. RTO is a simple employer request that must be followed or there are consequences.”

Seems like a solid way to run a business.

Lucky he didn't get fired. Show up to work like the rest of us.

Bonuses are overrated anyways. People worry about them all year long and then when they finally show up, 50% gets taken out in taxes. They aren’t worth the effort and aggravation.

Maybe this year he’ll show up like the rest of us, enjoy losing your bonus

Any employees not receiving the standard bonus should expect to be placed on a PIP.

HR is already threatening to PIP anyone who refuses to union bust CWA West, so why does it matter?

It just goes to show how little your performance means.

Bonuses are tied to a--licking, not actual work.

That’s right, if you don’t bow to the emperor with no clothes then you must be punished up to termination.

At least he still has a job, a lot of us aren't as fortunate.

I went in once a week or less and got my bonus.
From my understanding it was people who never went in at all who got hit.

I guess the metric reports really are being reviewed. I also know a couple employees who are not receiving bonuses.

I didn’t believe when I had first heard of this happening but since learned it was true for some
In my org.

Here’s the thing, I don’t really have a lot of sympathy for them. Put the debate regarding the policy itself, why they’re doing it, etc. aside. The expectations were pretty clearly laid out. My team didn’t like it either but complied. And our Boss monitored that. Why should this guy have been allowed to not comply with no ramification?
