new ID badges -- another way to track?

Anyone see the article about new id badges & notice that chip technology in the photo example?? Another attempt at tracking our every location with the spin as 'enhanced' security?

The chip in the badge is an effort to move to passwordless. One of the most common ways of account compromise is people being phished. At some point the goal is to move away from passwords and rely on your badge + mobile app. You're already being tracked when you badge in and where you log in from. A chip doesn't add any additional tracking.

The comments under that article with everyone so “excited” grosses me out. The article told us nothing about the data that chip is collecting.
