Some AT&T employees start working here at '25' and retire at '65', but their passion and innovation died long before they ever left the company.

AT&T employees may join the company full of enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and a drive to make a difference. However, over time, the corporate culture, bureaucracy, or lack of opportunities for growth and creativity lead to these employees losing their passion and becoming complacent. They may continue to work here for decades, going through the motions and collecting a paycheck, but their spirit and drive for innovation and progress died long before they reached retirement age. AT&T knows this - they know they've used us up and are wanting to sp-t us out.

AT&T stifles creativity, innovation, and individual growth in favor of maintaining the status quo and focusing on short-term profits. More employees than would care to admit it feel trapped or unfulfilled in their roles, leading to a loss of passion and engagement in their work. Do you think the surveys really capture how awful AT&T is?

Young people - get in and get out while you still have your health, sanity, and family. Young men need not die at 25!

I agree and experienced similar, large corporations are like big government, we are just worker bees. Unless you are in the c-suite you’re just a number.

I started in my 20's in NJ & was promoted within 3 years. I thought I could make a difference in this company. I was wrong. I learned to just do my job and shut my mouth and play the game.

OP- you explain me. I was in my 30’s when I came to T and I wanted to change the world. My first day at T, I could tell you did things the T way or no way at all. I would say about 4 years after I started, after I had operationalized and sold a large deal to a fortune 100 customer and received no recognition for it, my desire to change the world was sapped. Most recently, my “give a dam” has become busted by unachievable goals being set as a pretense to send me packing. I’ll welcome the day.

I started at 24 and ended at the end of 2022 at 61. 38 years in total. Started in NJ. Very motivated when in my 20’s, balanced work and family life in my 30’s and 40’s. Moved to Dallas in my 50’s-60’s and experienced the $150M redu of the Discovery District and south Dallas. I saw that I was the old man in Dallas so I saw the writing on the wall and retired with a good pension before the rates would have cut it by 30%. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. It was tough at times, but that’s life.

Young people are more concerned about showing up at 9 getting there latte and chatting up a storm then breaking for lunch. Then after lunch they are getting ready to take that afternoon nap then hit the road at 3. If this world was rand by 25yr olds we would look like a 3rd world country. Keep in mind these old people paved the way for this great country we have the privilege of living in. Just talk to your dad and grandfather....they will share similar sediments.

Know one thing.....when you work for a startup you signed on for a great deal of instability. I know plenty of people that chartered that track and were out work out of work as soon as a recession hit. Moving back to there parents basements. ATT is not the best environment but they pay pretty well, Have decent benefits and offer a 401k. Also keep in mind these old people you are describing deployed all the backbone technology you young people use. Internet, cell phones and WIFI was all deployed by old people. Get some life experience then come to a message board. You look foolish! Just saying!

If you're such a genius why did you come to ATT at a young person. Could you not get a job at one of the future tech companies you're describing. Dude this is the phone company for crying out load! This company is as close to government as you will ever get. Let me also go out on a limb and say maybe if you partner with one of those older people you described, maybe just maybe you will learn something that you can take back to the street. Only young people with no work or world experience would say something as stupid as you posted! Come talk to us older people when you have a family and responsibilities and a little world experience. Another genius millennial that thinks they have all the world problems figured out at 25. Lord only if you knew how little you actually know!

Firstly, we work for a phone company, not a glorified tech company. Every innovation is just a scam to cram onto an unsuspecting customer's bill.

Secondly, all of the young people with their fancy powerpoints show innovations that lead to customer confusion.

Lastly, fire the young people and just deliver what the customer pays for and we’ll be rolling in the dough. Again, we’re a phone company.
