Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Negotiating offer with Intel

I am negotiating an offer with Intel. I was basing my ask on the salary range published in job description. HR is saying the pay range in job description is not correct and is offering me less than the lower end of the pay range published in job description

Does this sound right?

So I finally closed with HR. I am a supply chain professional with 5 years exp and grad degree. They listed grade 9 salary and tried to offer an 8. They came back and said they could do the 9.

Think I will accept.

Sorry to hear one of your story about Intel rip off job advertisement. Failing companies always do that trick so be careful with your long term career.

Your argument is flawed , baseless and over generalized. I don’t think anything you said negates what OP is saying. Like one of those d-mb engineering managers at Intel who can’t make a proper argument that is not by Engineering Managers at Intel don’t even have an engineering degree and are a laughing stock in the industry

Just because OP is negotiating the offer does not mean there was no job description/ requirements, iterative process etc you mentioned. It appears OP has gone through all the interviews and is in offer negotiations stage.

Looks like there was a job description and there was a pay range published in job description . And there is a negotiation going on the salary. What exactly is not credible?

When I joined Intel 6 years ago it was a take it or leave it offer, so stop generalizing your experience for everyone else

Talent people don't join Intel anymore because id--t managers will ki-l your talents, su-k your sweet and blood then eventually lay you off.

When they came with my soft offer it was on a spreadsheet screenshot... It depends on what HR people you get. I never got a formal letter until I accepted...

This OP post is not credible.
As an Engineering mgr, talent team will work to ensure they understand my technical requirements for the job description. Once I accept and ask HR comp team to make an offer the process is iterative until we agree on the salary and an official offer is sent with communication between me and potential new hire. If the offer does not meet the person’s desire then negotiation ensues. That’s how it works pretty much anywhere not just intel.

why do you want to negotiate with a failing company that laid off its workers? Tell them you just want at least 1% of CEO salary and benefits. Otherwise just leave asap before you become the next cheap slavery.

They are probably offering you 1 grade level lower than what is in the job description.
The offer letter will tell you what is the grade level. The job description will tell you the grade level too. Are these 2 matching?

"HR is saying the pay range in job description is not correct and is offering me less than the lower end of the pay range published in job description
Does this sound right?"

that is the first sign that the company is not ethical
i remember getting hired by a company where the HR behavior was a sh-tshow
the company's behavior did not get better once i was inside

Don't join intel unless you have no other option. If you do join, keep looking for a real job and leave asap. Don't say you weren't warned. Best of luck.

If they can't correctly post a job ad, why would you still consider them?
