P5 what’s next

If you are a senior lead role P5, what is next in the org of employment. The new titles of Executive Director for this role basically is pigeon holding you in this category bc what is the likelihood you could apply to senior manager to maintain this title. yes I know this is fictional in theory bc there are no state-side jobs out there but please tell me where could we even potentially grow towards, career wise?

Pigeon “hole”. Not sure what the problem is here. Just because P5 is the top of the individual contributor ladder doesn’t mean you can’t be a director or sr mgr (sorta lateral), regardless of officer title. Bigger concern should be offshoring.

P5 is the top in the control/reg space. They cut the P6 (Principle) levels in that space. The P6 in the other areas are the same pay scale as the P5 for control and reg so unless those P5’s jump to a Director in those spaces comp wise they are looking at laterals only.

I'm p5 and could care less about being an executive director. means nothing. there are p6 as well as specialty roles you can be assigned, but given the high end of my salary grade, I have a lot of room in addition to a pretty good bonus. I'll likely retire in my role unless they retire me first.

as for those saying there are no US roles, about 1500 last I checked with plenty of p5, m3, me etc.

if you can't find what you are looking for here then go elsewhere.

Once you are at P5, you have reached the highest iIC level. Need to move across as people
Manager to
Progress further..there are some senior manager roles who may not have direct reports you can take also while you develop on managing ppl…

for individual roles the next level up is Principal. pretty rare to see it but getting that job would let you get a promotion bump in pay vs being forced to stay flat

Currently a P5, previous M3 or Sr. Manager. I am posting for M4 Director roles but most seem to be specialty roles or India / Philippines. Not to mention the few that do appear on the jobs board are likely already taken.
