Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

“New platform”

Just more proof that uppers have no clue about anything we do or need to get things done. Now we have numerous emails about this and meetings from next week until middle of March practically daily that last 2-3 hours each. In top of all the other meetings we have and live work smh

Sad coincidence - Platform model starts on March 13. Remember the 2020 event when US was closed down due to the SARS COV 2? Also March 13. Jackpot.

On a call about the new op model. It’s comically disorganized & unclear - & to hear the “ leaders” tell us why it’s happening & the benefit is even more comical.

Only people this was good for was the consultant getting paid to implement this nonsense

Thank you. You are quite the scholar and I for one am impressed.

You are the antithesis of a University of Phoenix graduate.

“We trained hard - but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we were reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.”

They got sold by the consultant. Nothing more & now there are many people at the bank, scrambling and working 18 hour days to implement this nonsense of Platforms
In 4 years they will change it to something else

This post is a perfect recap for life at BNY.

It is difficult to move forward under leadership that does not understand what has happened up until now….all of the bandaids and cost saving measures we have employed over the years. To someone coming from JPM or GS, where data is lined up and systems are first class……these changes should be very easy. But because we do so many things using old (maybe broken?) systems, it’s not that easy.

On the other hand, the pain needs to happen, because we cannot carry on using these old, broken down methods if we want a scalable solution. It is a necessary pain point.
