Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Smith is back on as a board member

I seem to recall that Stacy Smith, as CFO, was a potential CEO candidate back in the day… he had left, but now he’s sorta back… with a seat on the INTC board. Feels a tad odd, right?… or is it just me?

He’s here for the split up plain and simple.

With the 5N4Y plan and Pat's age, they might be prepping candidates for a 2025 CEO change. (Regardless of success/failure)

Smith was the architect of the 2006 "Structure and Efficiency Team" (SET) layoffs.

He has a particular expertise, probably the right guy for the job at hand

Well, it could be much worse. What if they brought back BK as a board member?

The board doesn't need another Wall Street focused person, they need more tech smarts. Intel is headed towards becoming another Boeing.

Stacy was the common thread to the Otellini-BK-Swan era that saw Intel dive bo-b competitively. Not happy to see him back. He oversaw upwards of $100B in buybacks that could have been invested into R&D and capital.

@1lip+1rw2SbLT Spot on! I bet Pat is feeling the acid… PG may retire and then this guy comes in to replace him. Stacy would split the company into two, the foundry and the chip business at that point… that would be my guess

Ah good. Another old white guy that will still act like it's 1997 and all the same things from that time will work today. And, is tight with Pat, exactly what you want in BOD member intended to oversee the CEO. Nope, no conflict of interest here!

What’s he been doing since he left Intel? I can’t find him on LinkedIn. Weird

Didn’t he come up with contra revenue?
A very innovative way to lose money.

Does seem odd.. like why now?
Supposing he could potentially be an interim CEO if Pat suddenly retires?
