Remote Role in EFT Impacted by Location Strategy

Had a call with my manager who was reading from some document or email telling me that my remote role is impacted by the location strategy.

Manager could not answer any questions about timeframe and I was told that "something" could happen in a month, year, or years.

No further information was provided on anything, not even on a timeline when further information would be available.

Normal?

Why the secrecy in not sending this via email?

The direct managers do know all of the details, with the exception of the actual date you will get notified in May. They have been given a very strict script to use in the preparation discussion with you. Read between the lines in that conversation that you have with them. More than likely you are getting you are getting displaced sometime in May, a small number will get a relocation option to one of the hub cities. The manager didn't get to decide that location. An even smaller number will get an exception to continue working from the non-hub location but if you are remote it's near 100% displacement. You have plenty of time to prepare now. Assume that you are getting displaced with severance and build your plan now.

Just classic waste of man hours, such Ia wf. We waste more time on useless stuff than anywhere I’ve ever seen

By now everyone who is remote should expect it and prepare. It’s hardly a secret.

This is the Well Life! Reason #666 - Uncertainty creates severance savings for the 'firm'.

A lot of managers are doing this now and it’s completely worthless. They can’t give the actual impact date or the actual office people are supposed to go to (which is a big difference in some markets). Why hold the conversation at all? Pointless and wastes time. Managers have to know some of these details.

Unfortunately, this is the exact same message I received in COO. The messaging on this is probably the worst I have ever been witness to. Beyond leaving behind 52 weeks of severance, not sure what else I can do other than take it up the tailpipe.

What on earth is the point of this? At this point, if your business group already identified and shared the locations, anyone not in one of those locations already knows their days are numbered from today until 2025/2026. Oh that’s right, WF’s point of this is to harass and mental torture people into quitting.

This is crossing a line of unprofessional and more… We know CS and company don’t give a rats azz about WF US employees but enough already. Those who will quit before severance will do so. Those who wait it out will do so.

I hate what this company is today.

Same here, think tech managers are instructed to reach out and have a conversation regardless of the quality or usefulness of it. They are powerless and not privy to specifics. Maybe this is where some feedback is gathered, such as a remote's interest in relocation or waiting for layoff.

This is not an excuse though, we all deserve better.
