Thread regarding IBM layoffs

So who survived?

There's been a lot of news this week about employees who got axed, but not much on the survivors. Understanding that every division and organization has probably been affected to some degree, does anyone know how the RAs were distributed? Apparently the CIO was hit, but who else lost people? Did any group come out relatively unscathed? Just curious.

If you survived this layoff, there is always the next one... If not later this year, then next year around the same time!

Does anyone know when GDP will be paid off? I was told in early March I would be awarded a bonus, but was RA’d last week. Would like to understand if I will still receive it ?

Everyone who has survived layoffs knows that the people left behind are expected to fill the gaps. I'm still doing the jobs of several people who've been RAd over the years. I like everyone else I know in that position do it, bit just not as well. So ya, while I don't literally work 4 full time jobs, the responsibility, stress are still there and it's still me who has to tell clients we don't have what they need.... over and over. So ya. It's very possible to end up with the work left behind. Still grateful To be employed in this market but its never a matter of the work disappearing with the person.

so was I. you can only fill a working day so much. if you had capacity well, congrats, but don’t cry when you’re expected to do an expected amount. if you had no capacity then you won’t do much more cos you can’t so no need to cry. you’re giving everyone who wants easy money for easy work a pass now? note: this doesn’t mean I’m in anyway pro IBM.

how can you get 2.5x the workload? was your workload so low that you had capacity? or if not, then you don’t have the capacity to increase it 2.5x. Maybe you’ll make some efficiency savings and perhaps work a bit longer but your workload won’t significantly increase unless you were operating under capacity already.

I survived, but quite frankly, it just seems I'm getting 2.5x the workload for the same pay.

Are compute support engineers/tech support in cloud safe or did you mean sales staff in cloud getting laid off again this year?
