D9 Bargaining - Strike Relief, Assistance and Work Stoppage

April 6, 2024 is the D9 wireline, contact expiration.

Union members: The striker’s certification for relief funds and application for assistance forms are available to download from your local or another local’s website. Fill them out and give them to your steward or picket line captain.

Closer now to a work stoppage since the company keeps offering regressive proposals and denying or not addressing any of the union’s bargaining proposals. Get your affairs in order and be ready to walk. Won’t be long now so, be ready when asked to reach out to your local politicians and news organizations. The CWA will be in contact with national politicians, candidates and news organizations.

Contingency Team: Need to get ready and in place for your assigned duties. Need to take care of the customers and maintenance needs until, an agreement is reached and the bargained workforce returns.

Good luck to all and a fair contract!

Stupid dance by T and CWA. Contract is already settled. Just details remain. No strike for D9. Not even an authorization to strike given to members. Just keep paying those dues !

To the poster who keeps referring to union members as slugs, that is a childish way to address your co-workers. I know you are the in the minority with your vitriol because, I have many good friends and co-workers on both sides of the contract, who respect each other’s position.

A lot of front-line union members put their own and their families lives at stake during Covid-19. The vast majority of management including myself and inside workers were able to shelter in place during those scary times. Bargained continued to serve our customers and kept the company afloat while many businesses failed. My hat is off to those who served during those times and you deserve a fair contract.

Don’t know why you feel the need to disparage union members, we are all in this together. Most like the management team exceptions, would be the sycophants, tyrants and leadership who has gotten us to where we are now. Have lost many co-workers last several years due to their mismanagement.

Tick Tock, 18 days and the company is bargaining in “Bad Faith” again. 0 - 34 on Union proposal’s, Labor is still wanting to be regressive.

Get ready contingency team, your new RTO assignment is about to start. Please be nice to my vehicle, tools and keep my climbers sharpened or you will eventually cut out on the pole and get a lot of splinters on the way down, thank you.

I've noticed a few in contingency training are from a certain indian country. Using H1bs to replace union workers has to be a breach of the visa.

Please let me find just one Dalit with a H1B visa training to do CP duty. Please , just one. I will certainty do "the needful".

Union is toast, you will be forced to concede pay, benefits and job security just to keep your badge. But you do you tough guys.

Soon the only information you will get is from this website. You will not be in webphone, you will not be able to log in, you will have a worthless piece of plastic that was once your access badge. There will be no more direct deposit from AT&T every two weeks. I hope you stay "tough" there sport when the bill collectors come calling.

You want to say the Union is toast?? Why, what benefit does that serve you?
RTO to a different State is coming for some of you. The Union didn't do that to you. Don't say Union benefits caused that either. Randell and Stankey's failed experiments that created 130 Billion dollars of debt did that.

Meanwhile.
I don't know if you have been paying attention lately, but John Stankey want's 15 to 20 thousand non bargained scalps. He is in the scalp gettin' business, and Brother the scalp getting business is a' boomin'.

I'm very sure given Stankey's track record in running ANY part of ANY business unit that anyone cares what Stankey thinks at this time.

Yes, the best time to strike is when the sycophants say it is not a good time to strike.

"why is there so many contracts and districts?"

Let me tell you something, maybe you haven't been here long enough but only about 10 years ago at most we were all up for negotiations at the same time! All districts except maybe mobility!

The company is obviously smarter than the union!! They negotiated contracts at different time lengths!
District 6 for example received 5 year contract while others received 3 or 4!
So in answer to that question the company divided us and is looking to conquer!

1 company. 1 union(unless there’s still some IBEWs out there). 0 reason why it has to continue like this.

The districts and the company would need to agree to it. I doubt the company will agree to it. They'd rather keep us divided.

Yes there are IBEWs in some areas in CA.

Why are there so many different unions and contracts that expire at different times?
It's a remnant of the Baby Bell era. Different companies = different unions.

….,1 company. 1 union(unless there’s still some IBEWs out there). 0 reason why it has to continue like this. A unified contract date is a must for bargaining leverage but apparently the U management team doesn’t seem interested.

The members panic if INFOR fails to add Night Differential to their timesheet. There’s no way they’re prepared to walk out for any more than 25 minutes.

No we do not panic if INFOR fails to add anything. I have have been under payed by several days and some of my coworkers have been over payed. I can tell you I'd rather be under payed given the sh1t show that is Infor. We just want Infor corrected before it becomes the sh1t show that we know it will soon become.

Just like in management, you have 20% that does 80% of the work. Same with craft and I can assure you the 20% that does 80% of the work is financially responsible enough to wait out several weeks if we strike. You may get the slackers that can't fix a sandwich much less a trouble ticket without calling someone.

Much like how the RTO finds out who is who. Those with marketable skills can tell Stankey to go hide and fck himself and move on, but for the remaining 90%, you know you are begging for a job. It is what is.

Maybe we will see you around come strike duty.

I just tell them no. I only do 8 hour days and there's a formal process for forced overtime.

I suspect this will be the ugliest and longest contract negotiation ever. T will try to severely gouge pay, benefits and job security in the name of cost savings and company long term health. I’m prepared to stay out months to get a fair contract albeit fair may be viewed quite differently by each side.

Isn’t the purpose of a union COLLECTIVE bargaining? They’d be a lot more effective if they all joined forces and negotiated a single nationwide contract.”

You know that’s a dang good question. It’s obvious why it was, but there’s absolutely zero excuse as to why it still continues to be. Apparently our U leadership team wants no part to of unifying us members and providing more much needed leverage . It should be issue #1 but it won’t even be on the list for any negotiations for any of the contracts. That oughta tell you everything you need to know.

D3, SE wireline contract expiration is up in August, even more members than D9, we had a work stoppage last negotiations, will do it again in a heartbeat. If labor wants to play chicken they will find out, we are serious! Not threats, facts. Better for all to get the nonsense out of the way, bargain in good faith and settle early.
