Tommy Maguire is in charge now. Bobby Mudge has stepped into the background. Tommy will orchestrate the Brightspeed acquisition of us.

Bobby Mudge is big on video. No way we pull the plug when Brightspeed is ready to buy us on the cheap.

Brightspeed is demanding full RTO and monthly RIFs before Bobby Mudge agrees to anything however.

a few years back Frontier (which bought up some unwanted Verizon assets outside of the Northeast) stopped taking new orders for video. However customers that already had video were able to keep it as long as they didn't make changes to their accounts. Eventually most of those customers will switch to streaming, cut the cord or whatever but there's still a segment of the population (mostly older folks) still love the cable box with channel numbers and it's tough to kick them off. Verizon will probably eventually follow the same path but not today OP.

Fake url with bad formatting. There's no numbers and "html" in Fierce's articles.
Examples of formatting of legit links to fierce telecom news articles:

video lives on at the company despite RIF's in the group

Yes licensing video content is costly and revenue neutral. The only reason it still exists is cause Fios’s competitors (xfinity, spectrum, coz, altice) offer it and customers like to bundle.

At some point all of big cable companies will stop offering video and that is when fios will stop as well.

Video is a huge cost burden. Dropping video drops alot of expense out of the business.

They will also only stop activations on the Qam services and only offer the stream TV or whatever it's called now. That was always the plan to stop offering QAM in 2024/25.

They will stop new orders soon which is not the same as “pulling the plug”

Still waiting for the plug to be pulled on DSL…

I like how things that are confirmed on this site rarely ever happen. Still waiting for that sale to happen too

Confirmed, Verizon is pulling the plug on video but only after full RTO and the June layoffs are completed.
