Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Starting career here

Hi y’all I am a recent “B2B” grad and just got a position in fiber sales. I’m looking for wisdom and advice on how to succeed and make a long career in fiber. It seems that everyone has secrets on their success and the quota is very difficult to hit. I want to work hard and prove it to myself that I can but there is negativity and not a ton of help. Anything helps, thanks.

Wow. Start looking for another job immediately. T is a giant dumpster fire throughout every organization. Use them and dump the garbage off yourself as you run to your next job. Don’t even think you’ll have a career at T. Sh-t show!!

You may want to start by getting off of this website for advice.

Know your products and key benefits. Focus on your customers by incorporating their problems into your elevator pitch. Identify key decision makers, influencers, detractors, and coaches. Create realistic expectations of closing a deal so you are not wasting time on a no-win customer. Be creative, always fill your funnel with new prospects, spend as much time as possible on prospecting and building relationships. Most importantly, maintain your integrity and not take unethical shortcuts to win deals. Learn from others who are successful - especially your peers. Good luck in your journey and expect obstacles along the way! Life’s not always fair.

“ advice on how to succeed ”

Keep your head low.
Always agree with your manager.
Never question management in public.
Never be the highest paid person in your org for any given position.
Don’t volunteer information until you are asked.

Good luck

Get some experience, put it on the resume and run. You’ll make more money elsewhere and probably have a happier life.

This job will limit you on your resume. You will face extreme pressure, unethical leadership and coworkers who will do ANYTHING to meet objectives, and moving sales targets. People will not want to hire you when ATT fires you. Sellers rarely get layoffs they get fired for not making quota.

Put in 12 hours a day for the first year and you do fine. You need a combination of revenue streams. Techs, IT Vendors, Phone Vendors, Property Managers, Mobility Partners, Leasing Agents. Go find those your do just fine. You won't hit your number making 100 cold calls or door knocks a day trust me if you don't have all forms or revenue streams. Last but not least don't expect anybody to follow up on your orders but YOU!. If you don't follow up on your orders your stuff will not get installed. Relying on CGI and Link America will cost you deeply.
