Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Annual Meeting Voting

The board recommends that you vote for them again and that you vote to approve the executive compensation. The board also recommends that you vote AGAINST an independent chairman and a report on respecting workforce civil liberties.

How are you going to vote on these?

Marissa Mayer is on the board? The same one who cancelled remote work for all of Yahoo, and then had a nursery built next to her CEO office so she could see her baby whole she worked?

The same one who left Google even though they were one of the first hires (double digit employee number) to go make a name for themself at a competitor? And then ran it into the ground?

Marissa-mayer will fit right in with the rest of our talentless do nothing board. Remember when Yahoo was the biggest baddest search engine?, enter Marissa, her time at Yahoo was marred by slowing growth and internal dissent, leading to plummeting employee morale and calls for her resignation. She resigned from the company as soon as its sale to Verizon was finalized, and left with a $23 million severance package. Look it up.

Institutional investors own far more stock than employees & they (almost) always vote the way the board recommends. Still vote against all this cr-p, just don't get your hopes up.

That smacks of desperation. I can't recall seeing them plead for employees to vote shares before. They must be getting pressure from Wall Street heavies and pension funds that actually own most of the stock.

Protip regardless of the company, ALWAYS vote against whatever the Board recommends. It is always in their favor at your expense.

Employees own a lot of stock.

Do we really? I sell it as soon as I can. It's the only stock I own that is almost always in the red and depreciates in value.

If you haven't logged into your 401K and ditched the AT&T stock, I highly recommend that you do. I've had many former coworkers who got laid off and then made the unfortunate discovery that their 401K was bombshelled by this piece of cr-p. Don't snooze on it.

Why does the T C-Suite always say we need to do this and that for the “stockholders”.

Last I checked, as T employees, if we own T stock we are “stockholders”.

Not sure why the C-Suite always references employees vs. stockholders as two separate entities.

So many employees could submit questions and/or vote. Employees own a lot of stock.

I found two other interesting things in reading the annual materials.

  1. AT&T is a company that is promoting back to the office for face to face communications will be a virtual annual meeting this year. I guess they don't want to mingle with stock holders.
  2. A new BOD member under the age of 60 with AI and technology experience just joined. https://about.att.com/story/2024/marissa-mayer-board-of-directors.html

So if you still own AT&T stock make sure you you vote for your favorite officers. :)

I read through the document this morning. If you participate in the 401(k) or have AT&T stock please take the time and read through this document and vote. Everything we recommend you vote for benefits them and not the employees. Everything They recommend you vote against you should vote for. Please please take the time to read this and understand how your vote can make a difference. There needs to be a significant change.
