Another CEO says WFH should not go away

Maybe Andy and the managing committee should take the hint from this CEO

The problem too is that literally every corporation in banking is following the same 3 day in office trend, which is wholly unnecessary for most departments. And for less than 2% raise, it's a huge pay cut overall.

The insane part is we SHOULD be talking about a post-COVID world. House prices jumped over 50%, similar for rent. Groceries are still insane, gas, etc. A lot of people can't afford to live so close to the city anymore or if they can, they are scared to in a super lay-off friendly environment instead of saving 6-12 months emergency fund.

Why should we burden ourselves financially AND continue to destroy the planet for what looks like no good reason whatsoever? My team works across the country. My presence in the office doesn't matter because I'm on my computer all day with my team all over. All it does is cost me money and time. I could maybe have had a conversation about 1-2 a week; that would have felt like a compromise from their end. But it's a strange punitive 3 days, which is more in that out of the office, for what seems like zero benefit and only major costs for employees.

If they are outsourcing to India then they don't care about company culture at all.

Louder for the people in the back…

We were TOLD that remote was permanent. It wasn’t an “assumption”, it wasn’t just “thinking that maybe it would be”. We were TOLD, clearly and unequivocally, that remote was permanent. And thanks for doing such a good job working remotely, and proving that it works, and saving the company money because we can sell this building now…

So when you accuse people of making “questionably decisions”… remember, they built their life around being remote NOT based on assumption or here say, but based on the very clear and concise communication of bank leadership…

so if those people seem upset about recent changes, try to pause and think before making your “smart” comments.

I find it hilarious the comments talking about how people worked in the office before covid and thinking remote was permanent, considering when they moved my position to remote we were told, “your position will now be permanently remote.” Also, being in a travel position, I did not always work in the office before covid. Tell me why we’re being told we are not going to be considered remote anymore and we’re switching to hybrid. This bank can trust people to travel and work all over the USA and Canada, but I can’t be trusted to work from home on the days I’m not traveling? Make it make sense.

People moved away from their office and don't get daycare. We all have seen it happening. It may not be everyone but enough to ruin it for a lot of people. A lot of sales people do not even know how to interact with people anymore. Isolation has not helped everyone.

I agree with the fixation on COVID. It needs to end. But COVID did show us that a lot of people can work from home. So what's the purpose for those of us who CAN work from home to go back into an office? It's not about collaboration, or career development, or whatever other BS reason the company chooses to spout. They're not being truthful with their employees, and that pi---s a lot of us off. It's about butts in seats and the company monitoring and observing their employees. If it's fine with you that your company doesn't trust you to do your job from home, feel free to go back into an office. But for those of us that want to work from home and can do our job just as effectively from home, why not allow it?

"You worked from an office before COVID and didn’t whine about it".

Not everyone worked from an office before COVID. Furthermore, some of us were not with the bank before COVID.

The fixation on COVID is unbelievable. Move on.

Why all the whining? You worked from an office before COVID and didn’t whine about it. Now that you had to WFH some people complained about kids being around or space. Make up your minds. Is it because some of you all made the questionable choices to move elsewhere , thinking remote was permanent? Bad on your part. So either find another job or quiet up , enjoy your over paid job and go into the office if you have to.
