It appears from the looks a one on one and will be casual. Is this just a disguise?

My guess is that your +1 Manager needs to hold these meetings to tick off their Year End Performance evaluation of having step 1 meetings with their team. No worries.
The layoffs are handled by your direct manager, not +1. They are also scheduled this far in advance with your manager and HR rep. Your manager won't ask for the 1:1 until the day of it a day before. It's absolutely reasonable to ask for an agenda. I don't accept any meetings that don't have an agenda or discussion topic included (I'm an EA to an OC+1) and if they don't accept them without an agenda or discussion topic, neither should you.
Had this a couple weeks ago. Manager just droned on for 15 straight minutes, not allowing any questions. Complete waste of time.
No. Managers got lazy with these meetings and were told to make sure they were holding them.
Probably not. I had a +1 manager meeting a few weeks back and it was just a quick, "How are things?" type of thing. No big deal.
In my experience of lay offs or bad news, they are "last minute" scheduled the day before or morning of types of things. I don't know if they add an HR person or not these days. I suppose I'll find out one of these days. I am a part of the relocation strategy, so I know my time is coming!
Layoff meetings are not scheduled that far in advance. Day of or maybe late the night before.
What did the invite say? Any +1 Manager should know to include an agenda or at least a sentence about the intent, especially in today’s environment!
It will be a one-on-one lunch at the local Denny's. They will let you down easy and have a pile of papers for you to sign. If you freak out or raise your voice, some guy sitting at another table will walk up behind you and chloroform you. Every city has a Denny's owned by HR - all the staff are trained to handle rowdy "customers".
that is too much advance notice. they seem to be pretty immediate.
it's of managers do 2 downs and this is probably related to global survey feedback. Use it as an opportunity for your leadership to get to know you. Sell yourself.
They wouldn't telegraph a layoff like that.
Not a good sign. Ask your manger for an agenda.
For All of you who worry about Wells Fargo, don't join the firm, don't apply, and if you care about clients, tell them to move to a more stable company. The power of public opinion can help us bring permanent change.
If it's +1 manager, and just a call calibration, you should be fine IMO. If it's +1 manager for any other reason, document everything. I hope for you, it's just a standard one on one.
