Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

You should leave

Getting out of Wells Fargo was the best move I ever made. That place was horrible, from top to bottom. It always amazed me how little they cared about employees or even anything resembling competence. I can't even remember how many times I had to fly blind on a task because I received zero guidance. I dread thinking about what my mental health would be if I had decided to stay. Trust me, there are better options out there.

For your mental health you have to take a different view and look for the humor in the day to day. It's like ground hog day with endless meetings on the same topic, people arguing, strong arming and show boating. Just when something actually moves forward it all does a 180 somewhere between a week to a month later. Then, more meetings. It's like living a comedy show instead of watching it.

Having worked there for 15 years and loved it until a couple years ago, I left in February out of misery and quickly found a better job. After several weeks removed, when I try to explain to people what it was like at WF at the end, I can hardly believe the words coming out of my own mouth. It was a hellscape of dysfunction, disorganization, and terrible morale.

Sure, I'll leave OP / Shart. All you have to do is write 26 checks.

A job offer from WF is like a marriage proposal from Henry VIII.

Giving notice on 5/2 hoping for lay off either tomorrow or 4/30 - worked at a blessed location, so efficiency removal is my only hope. Retiring @ 62 and 1/2

@nok+1s3zWDqL The OP is like clockwork. Must be Charlie.
Everyone's situation is different. Most agree the environment is getting toxic. In light of this people need to weigh the costs and opportunities in:

  1. just leaving
  2. upskilling and then leaving
  3. "quiet quitting" and waiting for severance then retiring
  4. "quiet quitting", upskilling, new job prep and waiting for severance then getting a new job

It all depends on your situation. I don't recommend just leaving. All get 2 months + severance. Instead, gaining control of your emotions by getting counseling, exercising, and upskilling yourself. Let go....

When did you get out of Wells Fargo? The job market is horrible right now, particular in the finance and tech sectors. Folks who want to leave may not find it easy to jump ship right now.
