Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO- Sambar Town Hall

To whomever submitted the question (paraphrasing) -- "...has leadership conducted a study to determine the environmental impact of RTO..." etc. etc.

Answer, during roaring laughter: "No"

Let it go. They do not care.

what's really sad is all these companies develop the ability to do anything anywhere, then say, oh by the way, you can't actually use it for your job. if I owned a soda company, I would drink the soda, if I own a wireless company I would push hard to show it's capabilities... and by NOT having people come to the office, you increase your talent pool beyond your physical locations. that said, living in those locations, even with the pay doesn't match the cost of living. most people look at data at the surface level, and nothing past it.

“my job can be done from anywhere” is not the argument you want to use with a company that needs to cut costs

“Crazy to see grown adults throw a fit over simply being asked to return to the office to work. The comments on this page show what a sad state our company is in.”

Sounds like your personal life isn’t severely impacted by an insanely long commute, congrats! How do the boots taste?”

Time to be an adult and make adult decisions to move on to a new career. Quit crying like a 3 year old that didn’t get their way. What a weak generation. Bet you got a trophy at every T ball game, didn’t you?

First rule of management act like your spotless when the s&*+ hits the fan, this was all bluster and bravado on CS's part, the outage put a target on his back and we all know that some day in the near future we'll get the Friday email that after XX years Chris is leaving to spend more time with his family

I understand the need to vent.
We feel frustrated because our “ leadership “ is among the worst in our company’s history.

No ba--s, no guts, just a bunch of spineless “yes men” who don’t give a damn about our customers or employees

“When the government incentivize the company to send the employees BACK to WFH to REDUCE the “carbon footprint” especially for people that need to be on the road for 3 hours for no fucgking reason when the work can be done from HOME, I can guarantee you this fucgking company will be one of the first to participate.”

By then, positions that can be done exclusively from home will be sourced by other countries. Until then, we’ll see you at the office Karen.

The point here is how he handled the damn question. It’s not really about the stupid d-mb fuggin RTO cr-p. People don’t mind going back to the office. A lot of us started in the OFFICE. When the government incentivize the company to send the employees BACK to WFH to REDUCE the “carbon footprint” especially for people that need to be on the road for 3 hours for no fucgking reason when the work can be done from HOME, I can guarantee you this fucgking company will be one of the first to participate.

I never realized how much RTO was really needed until continuing to read threads and messages on this forum. T has a lot of entitled employees whose primary focus isn't work. More departments should shift to 5t days/week in office.

Has leadership done a study evaluating the quantity of mosquitos dying on car windshields and it’s impact on the whole cycle of life ecosystem?

People are d-mb. Just get in the office three days a week. It’s not rocket science.

Does anybody else wonder if recent Bawcum budget cuts are related to the outage? Did the customer credits come from his budgets, blaming him for the problem?

Sambar was extra conceited today. He could care less about outage… just focuses on how fast it was fixed. Ahhh… Chris… outage will have a big impact on churn…

But you don’t care bc you are safe and won’t be cut and have made so much money it doesn’t matter. You lost sight of the average Joe/Jane on Main St.
Sad….
Be careful…
Karma…
Stop with the gloating and at least pretend to care.
Lots of people working hard everyday who stopped to listen to you. Only to hear your arrogance. Nothing gained today.

By the way, your bs about small surplus… that’s because you’re doing move letters in disguise!!!

Check out a recent move in your org from an approved hub to another approved hub ??? Many in your org have special treatment to work from
Wherever they’d like…

Stop with the special treatment and allowance of high percentages for your directs to allow their favorites to stay home and work from
Wherever they’d like while their people are elsewhere. Also, stop falling for the “we need to extend timeframe for privileged who refused to move and should be off payroll”

Does that make any sense? Your keeping / extending those out of the 9 cities and moving people from one approved city to another approved city. What a cluster…

They really don’t care. The only metric they care about is how many people are leaving to reduce the cost. Ever wonder why they are pushing that office attendance metric? Yeah, so they can fire people for not complying. RTO has always been about headcount reduction. But not enough people are quiting (well the job market su-ks at the moment). So they are just going to force you out one way or another.

"Unfortunately, analytical data shows that RTO does not have any positive effect on a companies financial performance. Further, it has a negative effect on company culture."

Especially when the sheer method of tracking compliance can't be explained.

Trust goes both ways.

Yep, this is the supervisory management's view of RTO because their whole job is actually having meetings and hallway conversations. Not like us union or non-supervisory managerial employees (aka the white collar grunts) who don't have permanent places to sit so constantly sitting at table space with headphones on to drown out the noise of everyone on Team meetings while unable to focus on such things as developing application code or troubleshooting root cause issues.

All this will change once the winds of change are more favorable to stop this nonsense. For instance, if the government started giving tax incentives to corporations to increase amount of non-office workers in order to lower carbon footprint AT&T would change their tune in on RTO in a New York second.

The person who submitted the question also doesn’t really care about the environment. He or she just doesn’t want to be held accountable for actual productivity in the office.

The company does not really give a rat about carbon emissions. Just like it does not really care about diversity.
