I am with Pershing in Lake Mary, Florida, level K and making 125k base. My bonus has been about 15k a year. I’m a customer service manager. I have almost 10 years of experience.

Your compensation depends upon three things… your attitude, your work ethic and your abilities. There is no reason whatsoever for envy. Only you and you alone can determine your career and your compensation.

I’m not talking either.. but you’ll never know unless you hunker down and work your tail off. If you can give your all and make a difference you WILL be rewarded.

But GenX on down desperately need to learn that they have unlimited opportunities which boomers could never even dreamed of.

Stop whining and accept your beautiful unearned riches.

What you get out of your career is entirely dependent upon what you put into it.

L level, NYC 185K + 43K bonus for hard, humongous workload and excellent at it. Was let go after (apt 8 months) after my bonus was awarded to me - worrying to boss I am too highly paid and should I take less - my longevity there was more important. She laughed and said no you are fine.

Imagine my surprise when that wasn't exactly the case at all. Fast forward a few months, and the last thing we ever said was that she needed to confirm my home information. Not even a thank you. Nada.

Do NOT believe a word said, and do NOT count on raises, bonuses or benefits. If you haven't negotiated a very high salary coming in - you made a big, big mistake. It's the only sure thing.

I was a K in upstate NY for quite a few years and only made 100k with 1.5k to 2.5k for a bonus until my job was shipped to India. Got a 6 months paid vacation and a 50% raise in my new job.

If you believe those Lake Mary salaries are true, then you probably also believe Lake Mary is a top place to live

Envy is evil. Instead, take someone to lunch who is making the salary that you want and ask if they could mentor you. It’s actually not all that hard to move up in pay if you add skills, bring in big projects and volunteer to help others out.

It should be no secret that hard work, engagement, skilling up and helping others leads to rewards. But it only works if you’re skilled, have a good attitude and try hard.

Salary levels are driven by both letter and location. There’s a pretty wide range and also some overlap between the salary bands - high K may be more than low L, etc. There’s also pretty big variance between the business lines.

I was a K in Everett location making 95k with 5k bonus. Most of the comments in here are from people who are full of sh-t

I think a lot of it has to do with what division. Brokerage areas always have paid more than banking. I retired 3 years ago from Pershing as a group manager and was making 200k salary and close to that in bonus. The merger with BNYM was painful and I assume that only got worse.

@1xjn

It’s an interesting dynamic. Every post that is true here is always downvoted.

I’ve wondered why for the past several years.

Not sure why everyone down votes people. I'm an M IT manager and can tell you. L's are 170+- and 70+-k bonus. K's are 130-150 + 25+-k bonus. That's a fact, feel free to down vote me.

There are multiple ranges for same grade dependent on which business you are in. K in JC has a base midpoint between 135 and 155, but the max is around 200k

This was 2022: 100k plus 15k bonus as a K in NYC and people manager. I had consistently ranked EE each year.

Glad I got out and finally got paid market rate!

Salaries seem to be all over the place. I am a manager SVP L grade in JC making 170k and have a direct report making nearly as much. Am I under paid or is that person overpaid. Dunno.
