Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Is everyone celebrating Canopy’s “official “ 3 year anniversary today?

I recall it being announced as a new company in January 2022, but what’s 3 months when you are wasting a million dollars every month. They have, over two years, managed to accumulate almost 50 followers on X, and zero credibility in the vehicle security sector.

Well, they are posting a new video to X every few days lately, none of which ever gets over 100 views. What a waste of money that could be in our bonus.

Why would anyone spend money for canopy instead of spending $200 for a Tonneau locking roll up truck bed cover?

Does anyone in Canopy have a business degree or did some basic analysis?

  1. It doesn’t require a smart person to tell you not to leave any tools exposed in the bed of a truck
  2. Even if one leaves tools in the truck, and someone “takes” the tools, and the owner calls the police. Most police will tell you to stop by the station and file a police report, then call your insurance.
  3. In Some locations, police won’t even bother (like NY and CA) because the police know the DA will not do anything. The DA will file the report of the tools taken a way under “equity”. They may even reprimand the owner for leaving the tools out in the open.
  4. When the owner files a report with the insurance agency, the adjuster will most likely chastise the owner for leaving the tools out in the open. The insurance company will pay for the tools, but most likely the insurance company will raise the owner’s rate. Thus a lose-lose proposition.
  5. So the owner of the truck is paying $120 a year for what???

Hey, I’m all for entrepreneurship and finding new ways to generate revenue, but as I have learned in my business class, it is very important to understand your customer and the business, social, and economic environment when developing a new business model.

I wish Canopy the best of luck, but stop su-king money from Ford.

Why celebrate a major failure? What happened to the ADT professional monitoring? Where is the van cargo area security? Nothing like over promising and under delivering. Where is the accountability? Peter Stern, where are you??
