Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The Beatings Will Continue

My toxic engineering manager believes the beatings should continue until morale improves. This person has zero interpersonal skills and has no shame in attacking you in front of the team. Why we allow architects to become manages without some kind of management training continues to baffle me. It takes more than knowing how to architect and code to effectively manage a team. I have zero hope of things getting better and will have to move on. I feel sorry for those who remain. Things use to be so much better in the past before Charlie and company took over.

WF and WF Technology especially have some of the worst managers in any industry in this country. Notice I did not use the word leader , because leadership is a joke at WF and WF Technology. But the pressure comes down from the top and managers just pile on and pass it down the line . Threaten people’s jobs, pass the buck , blame others, there is no team. TK is the worst example of a leader or manager. She is a paper pusher. A useless cheerleader that will only deal with folks who kiss her ring.

Managers pretend to have tech knowledge by throwing around ideas that are not applicable to current business practices. It wastes so much time when they show up and try to control the refinement and daily scrum.

Lose Lose situation all day every day. OP beeching about having a technical manager with no leadership skills (which is very valid and should not be allowed). Then mouth breather @prx+1sCuzkqS beeching about having a non-technical manager who is “a su-k up”………because they do their fvcking job?

A manager/supervisor/etc is literally supposed to toe the line, di-----k. Just like you don’t get to decide what Wells does with its Home Loan org managers don’t get to decide what rules to enforce.

FFS there are a lot of folks left her that ate way too many paint chips and @prx+1sCuzkqS is a prime example. Do you sekts with goats too?

oh wow, you have a manager that actually has some technical knowledge? I find that most of the managers in my org don't actually have any subject-matter skills. They are, however, excellent at following commands given by their leadership overlords, proficient brown-nosers and su-k-ups, continuously host meaningless meetings to look self-important and justify their "contribution", get all their directs to do all the thinking and work for them (for which they will then take all the credit for) under the premise that it is somehow an "expectation" of their role and non-compliance will result in a poor performance rating, and lastly, are absolute masters in office politics.

At any rate, I'm sorry this is happening to you. Best advice is to look outside of "corporate" as this shameful behavior is all too prevalent in product, tech, engineering, QA, design, architecture these days. I wish you well and hope you find a place that appreciates and uplifts you.
