Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Internal Jobs

I have been trying for quite sometime to get a new job internally. I have been with Wells for several years and I have not been able to land an internal position. Either the postings close within hours of posting so I miss the opportunity to apply or I am not the candidate selected.

I have spoken to others who have had a similar experience. I am wondering if something is going on that I am not aware of. Of course, better candidates may be getting the jobs but this has been going on since before the pandemic. I am in a smaller market but OMG this is beginning to make me feel worthless.

Is getting a new job internally really that competitive?

Corporate Risk and HR recently did a workshop on applying as an internal candidate. Yes, the it's that competitive. Yes, you have to meet years of experience. If you've been with WFC your whole career it was strongly recommended to use a functional resume format. Fun fact 100-500 applications by end of day for some roles.

B.S.
They did interview for about 5 positions before getting this position.
Should be... "They interviewed for about 5 positions before getting this position."

If you are going to make a false post at least have your grammar right!

I was forced to displace team members a few months ago. One person actively tried to get work at Wells Fargo. They were just rehired. They got a promotion and a very nice pay bump. A pay bump that would have taken them 3-5 years with the usual annual increases.

Not suggesting that is everyone's experience, but I was very happy to see that with my former employee. They did interview for about 5 positions before getting this position.

Fake postings. Candidates have already been selected through an unofficial process.

They do not want people working here that remember anything.

I have also seen job postings in hub cities for people who already have said job but are not in a core location. They have to post for their own job and then get selected and have to move. I applied for one of these and even reached out to the hiring manager. He responded saying he would review my resume, but quickly got the “not selected” email. The person who had the job was in the Midwest and was being forced to move to a hub if he wanted to keep it. This is happening a decent amount.

C'mon people. It's readily apparent that Shart believes that all legacy WF employees (meaning, people that have been here more than a couple years) are "the problem". He doesn't want you here, and while a few may skip through the cracks and get an internal gig, there is institutional resistance coming from the top to any kind of internal career mobility.

Networking still applies to internal roles. If it’s up briefly, odds are someone networked and the hiring manager already has the ideal candidate in mind.

There is a hiring technique (apparently condoned by recruiting) where you flash an opening for a day. Not sure about several hours. Used when you have somebody in mind already, especially an external cronie. Correct me if I’m wrong. Kind of fodder for Loudspeaker but Loudspeaker is such a closed system it probably won’t do much.

Even if they do interview you, the next week you will get an email which states the job is closed and they are not hiring anyone. It happened to me 3 times in a month.
