RIF vs VSP

How is a VSP beneficial to Verizon? Why wouldn’t they just do a RIF?

Since 2018, What % of RIFs were Indian? 0? What % of new hires were Indian? 90+? What % of promotions were Indian? 90+? What % of your executive management is Indian? If you are RIFd and you are not Indian, talk to an employment lawyer.

A RIF targeting older (i.e. more expensive) workers would open Big Blue up to age discrimination lawsuits. A VSP removes that, because it's Voluntary.

That said, if you're hoping and dreaming for a VSP, don't hold your breath. Very highly unlikely in the near term.
