Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Time warp…

Ever notice how this place and the employees are stuck in a time warp? Offices are beyond depressing, filthy, and in disrepair. Employees skills are at an all time low. No new ideas ever come from management just the same regurgitation of old ideas. Just a sad place to be.

DLC might have a trouble or install once in a while, or grease and stickers. SSIM still needs to single splice fiber or terminate DS0, T1 and Ethernet. Wire techs and service techs do mostly physical labor. The CO still needs some software skills for provisioning or cross connects. Construction and cable repair work is not as much as it used to be. In other words craft doesn’t require as much skill as it did 20 years ago. Time to prepare for another line of work if needed.

We should all open ServiceNow tickets to report the problems. CRE can then close the tickets because there are no spare parts for American made sinks and toilets built in the 1960s.

Yes we all have. Toilets, sinks and water fountains shut off because they needed a small repai. Software is from the 80’s. Managers? Nobody knows where they are I guess they’re still in lockdown. Some come in 3 days but not to the correct location so you really don’t know where they are. These people aren’t working wake up AT&T. RTO rules need to be more consistent across different org’s.

I went to visit a call center in Detroit in 2009 and it was really depressing. The entire building and grounds needed to be upgraded. There were rooms inside the building that had ceilings falling in, and the drop ceiling tiles and insulation were scattered all over the floor.
I went back 4 years later and those rooms were exactly the same. No one had cleaned up, there were still water leak stains. Very depressing to say the least.
