Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T CEO: Focused on Always-On Connectivity

Pure genius. A telecom company that connects its customers, always. Mr. Stank knocked it out of the park in his Bloomberg interview.

Yet, as much as the average Joe or Jane (or average CEO like John) likes to stay connected through satellites while taking a tour of the Alaskan wilderness or bottom of the Grand Canyon, how about having “always-on” connectivity in our neighborhoods, our workplaces and our local hiking/biking trail?

You’ve outsourced your best employees to people in different time zones that don’t live here. The employees you laid off lived here and responded to neighbors and community partners that knew they were career AT&T. The employees you laid off knew 20+ years ago that “always-on” connectivity was the core competency of a telecom.

Glad you’ve finally come to realize that network reliability matters. Now do something about it and stop bloviating about “connecting changes everything” and adopt the motto “fixing our connections” and the remaining employees can get to work.

"Always on", this is the industry standard. Try providing anything less to your customers and they will be gone.

Always On? WTF. He’s got to be joking or now to Stink always on sounds like a heavy lift given the sh-t show leadership of SBC or maybe the shills that surround Stink are now merely agreeing to whatever the sh-t head says. Whatever the case, beginning with Snake Oil Ed, all SBC CEOs have been a cancer to the great legacy companies that has metastasized throughout them now thanks to RJS and Stink.

The Stink's position should be "transitioned" to India. I am sure there is someone there that can do a better job than the Stink, for a small fraction of the Stink's "take".

Should be easy to find lots of candidates to replace the Stink, who is top of the CEO wall of Shame - the worse CEO in US history.

Aren't customers paying to be always connected? My IQ dropped after hearing JS' statement.

Consumer is flatter but connected devices is up 30% - but JS says AST is consumer focused? Huh?

Another outage earlier this week ——- Occasionally off Connectivity — I see a pattern here. Apparently satellite connectivity is the solution to Occasionally off Connectivity.

How can JS, with a straight face, speak about always on connectivity and satellites in space (relying on another vendor) when he cannot provide always on connectivity down here on earth with the robust network he often speaks about?????

The lady in the interview asked JS about slow wireless growth, inside you know that pi---d him off.

Do we really need a CEO? With AI, can’t these generic “connect 2 tin cans with string” strategies be produced in a millisecond? Spend his obnoxious salary on hiring more techs and installers. Let “Alexa” or “Siri” be the head honcho.

Frontier realized this a decade ago when they bought Verizon wireline business in several states. They've been rolling out fiber everywhere ever since in a desperate bid to keep up with cable internet.

But they did not keep up with cable internet. They declared bankruptcy to get rid of their debts and pensions. Now they are profitable with just wireline services. This is what ATT needs to do.

Could have not said it better. Those of us with boots on the ground have been saying for decades we needed to run fiber to the homes. The genius pats himself on the back for finally doing so just a few years ago. You can’t make this mo--n up.
