Because they want a pay check without doing any work . And enjoy the perverse pleasure of ruining the career and lives of loyal, hardworking, dedicated people who won’t ki$$ their behind. Just come for a visit to London or Bedfont Lakes in the U.K. for an up close and personal experience of this state-of-the-art culture.

Managers role is to develop their team, support and protect as a leader. Comparing engineers to industry levels does not fulfil the role or job managers are assigned as a leader.

Worked from a technical role to a manager role. Seen many manage up and I don't respect them nor the managers that are their "buds". But thinking every manager su-ks and is part of that cisco culture is pretty weak. Downside is thinking as a manager you can have more of an effect on larger decisions. It doesn't work like that at all. Then add where you find out not every technical person is the top 5% in the industry, they aren't even the top half of the industry. Engineer around that level of skills that we have to work with.

There are few and far in between good managers who are really good and pull their team forward. Rest are just looking for trouble in employees to dent their review, find reasons of weakness in work or feedback, and update next LR list. They never talk to customers. They see themselves as bosses, not mentors or leaders.

Cisco manager’ job isn’t easy. If you are incompetent, you’ll get hit by LR.
You are in a position to resolve difficult situation, your team will come to you when there are stuff they can’t handle.
Definitely not as easy as you described.

Some managers don't have weekly 121s
Just constant we need this deal, are we on track
Never once do they meet customers
Should be simple if you don't speak directly to customers an SFDC report can easily replace you

Have you seen Cisco managers/directors after a layoff? It's not pretty

Turns out Cisco experience & skills do not translate to 2024 America

LOL. Tell me you are not a manager at Cisco without telling me you are not a manager at Cisco.

Multiple Cisco employee(s) want to become manager(s).

A single Cisco employee would want to become a manager.

A Shoe tying refresher session will be held after afternoon nap.
