“You would be surprised at how seldom unemployment filings are challenged. It is bad PR to do this. Also, no one actually works during the lame duck 6 months before the axe falls. That is time spent interviewing. Basically AT&T pays a severance one way or another. There is no upside to this cowardly layoff strategy other than it being wildly skewed toward older employees. In the worst cases you have people staying around and actively sabotaging the company until they are finally let go. Employees respect layoffs when the company is honest about it. Instead, AT&T is burning bridges with every current employee.”

I got an extension after being told to move to Dallas and am actively trying to sabotage the company and being maliciously compliant to continue to collect a paycheck while I job hunt and focus on investments.
So you’re definitely not wrong.

It isn’t good to pi-s some people off.

Exactly what we all were saying would happen with RTO.

“She isn't moving to Dallas even though she said YES.”
This was a bad decision. Rather than having up to 6 momths off with severance, she will work until the end and not receive any severance or unemployment.

If ATT management is talking they are lying. If ATT management is not talking they are preparing to lie as soon as they begin talking again. That’s the truth. That’s all you need to know. Sh-t show double feature 24/7.
