Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Can they hire and fire? When they LR you, does it have to be in sync with the general LR or you can be fired two months later than others?

They just hired people in our team in other regions of the country. Since we all work remote it is more a matter of salaries than geographical distribution. Can they pretend that they are still in LR mode after they hired just months ago?
If it is called LR does it have to be in sync with other layoffs in the company? I am thiking that otherwise it could be unlawful termination right? If not what is stopping them to lay you off at any time invoking the by now the continuous and ethernal reason: LR?

LRs don’t have seasons and aren’t pretend. They happen when ever there is a magic number a BU needs to hit. Just plan on it happening someday.

I was LR’ed in August 2023 as “part of the LR that was announced in Nov 22” - along with the rest of my group.

Re at will employment : that is US specific. You know, there US researchers recently discovered that there is intelligent forms of life outside of US borders :-))

At will employment. You can be fired at any time for any reason, unless you are of a "special" genetic makeup or imaginary gender, in which case it slows the process down.

You can be fired for any reason at any time. Firing season at csco starts January 1 and finishes December 31 of every year. It's the same at every company. csco just does it more often because they have done a terrible job hiring. The ELT is obviously incompetent, but the level of consulting and technical abilities of SEs/SIAs, PMs, and center offshore (with their US counterparts) is absolutely astounding in how BAD they truly are at what they were hired to do. Expecting customers to continue to pay for that is ludicrous and now we have the splunk mess. chucky boy and his henchmen need to be slapped over that company breaking decision. 50% of that group should have been gone before closing.
