Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Jen Robertson org

Letters out last week for more RTO to Dallas. Groups given exception last year told time is up and need to RTO again.

Re: Follow the Work is unreasonable and just a trojan horse for Reduction in Force.”

100% correct: RTO will stop when they get to the number of employees that only they know.
There will always be the % of favorites who get to remain an exception.

“RTO = Return to Office That is different than FTW = Follow the Work
Return to Office is a reasonable request
Follow the Work is unreasonable and just a trojan horse for Reduction in Force.”
The acronym for this effort needs to be changed to RTW. The goal is for all employees to Return to Work.

Even with a "bad rap", I still love Jen Robertson.

Could be waiting for more office space to open up in Dallas ( more layoffs).

In the meantime Jen is probably plotting a strategy with her higher ups about replacing the TW soon.

Just how many FTW's is Jen protecting? Is Jen disobeying Stankey's directive regarding RTO? If so, why? How can she possibly survive if she disregards Stankey's mandate?

Lol, this company has no idea what ethical means, nor does it care.

" it and to be honest, I don’t understand how it’s legal to fire one employee because they won’t relocate but the guy next to him in the same exact group can work from home."

Don't get legal and ethical confused. 2 different things. Sometimes they align. Sometimes they don't. There has to be a federal or state law prohibiting something for it to be illegal.
I suspect those who don't have to relocate are either very valuable or very high on the list to make the next surplus.

It’s not only Robertson’s org that picks and chooses.

Every org does it and to be honest, I don’t understand how it’s legal to fire one employee because they won’t relocate but the guy next to him in the same exact group can work from home.

“Directors are in Miami, Sacramento, Alabama, Ohio, Colorado and more and their L2 team members are all over the country. There’s also many who got move letters over a year ago, who didn’t move and keep getting extended. This is the new way to protect favorites. Allow them time to move, then keep extending it so in reality they are just TWs as they always wanted to be and their leadership is granting their wish through this mechanism. Pretty smart — unfair — but smart.”

This is why I’ve been saying just lie and say you’ll move then don’t, keep making excuses and getting extensions.

If you’re valuable to your team, you’ll get them.
The whole initiative is d-mb, so lie lie lie lie.

Jen better get rid of them before they hit MR 75.

Lots of remote workers in Towers group under JR Wilson / Choy org — especially L2s & L3s.

Directors are in Miami, Sacramento, Alabama, Ohio, Colorado and more and their L2 team members are all over the country.

There’s also many who got move letters over a year ago, who didn’t move and keep getting extended. This is the new way to protect favorites. Allow them time to move, then keep extending it so in reality they are just TWs as they always wanted to be and their leadership is granting their wish through this mechanism.

“I am ready to go. I was granted TW status last year and have been miserable since. Massive issues that don’t get fixed. Backfilling was done with people in Dallas and they are clueless and already using up all their PTO because they can’t handle the work. Leadership is a joke. Turning simple processes into complicated messes because people have been put in positions that have never done the job. I stopped caring months ago. This is a sinking ship and I will take my severance, pension, and 401k and retiree from this cluster.”

Hopefully things keep falling apart so they roll it back.
Can’t wait to watch the inevitable disaster.

RTO sideways stands for if you’re d-mb enough to believe T management lies they’re happy to fire your a-s when your job moves to Bangalore in two weeks. Check please!

How about all the important people who still work remote because you know they are so important.

Some people are important. Sorry for you that you're not.

There are people who simply will not move and will quit if forced, and they do jobs that take years to figure out how to do. Jobs which BTW no newbie would want to figure out how to do since they involve legacy skills that are not marketable.

Stankey is a spoiled child stamping his feet and running home with his baseball, but so far, cooler heads are prevailing. I know a number of people who were left as TW, and the company would suffer dearly in the next 3-5 years had they not been.

That this is even a discussion just proves that some people are drones and do not realize that others have actual hard-to-come-by expertise which they themselves and many others are not capable of mastering.

But don't worry, the leadership has a plan to d-mb everything down and give it to the Indians. And then the expert TWs will be gone, and you with them.

Robertson org was not impacted by RTO. The majority of employees outside of the hubs became TW. Look at mass markets
