Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How many would choose VSP rather than RTO?

A VSP right before the 2 day per week RTO starts June 17th is a way to reduce workforce voluntarily, not have to file a WARN, and minimize the negative impacts

Plan in place to put all non VSP takers that refuse to RTO on performance plans to the point they will be ineligible for 2024 STI, 2024 LTI and 2025 merit. If you moved from your designated work area take the package or move back immediately. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

There is a 3 week window to sign up. Everyone gets a personal payout calculation to review and use to make a decision. End of June sign up closes and if you don’t take it, you can’t go back later and choose it. Once it closes, it closes. Then first (almost all) exit is Sept with a few in Dec and then March.

This is definitely not a joke. The VSP is open company wide. There are a few opportunities to give bonuses to people considered critical in order to keep them from taking the package, but those require SVP approval so will be only a handful of those. It’s a really good deal for those who have been there for a few years given the 3 weeks per year. Most off payroll in Sept, but a few in Dec and even fewer in 2025. STI payout, all stock together grants vest immediately, payout for all unused vacation. Will be a huge exit coming which is what the company needs.

Last time they got swept in. If there is a this time they could do anything including sweep them in to avoid issues.

I’m not positive but I think in 2018 the folks that were riffed got the VSP deal. It’s just timing because they want some folks off the book in Q2. They just weren’t ready to announce it yet. This assumes the VSP rumor is real.

What if you're told you're being rif'd last Thursday, then, a VSP is offered 6/4, how does this affect those who are being Rif'd? Thanks for any advice/guidance

I was so hopeful last year I’d get riffed based on alot of circumstances in a new team with a new leader. The next day they didn’t call to RIF me but to outline all my additional assignments. I’m not going to get my hopes up but if these are all just trolling posts they are just as cruel.

Do we know when a decision has to be made by and when people who accept it would be off payroll?

Offered to most groups. Some groups exempt. 3 weeks per year worked , STI without individual modifier. Very very good deal if you feel you can’t grow in the current environment.

I know it stands for voluntary separation package, but what is the actual offer and is it a company-wide offer?

With the rumored and much talked about VSP to be announced tomorrow 6/4, is it for any specific workgroups? Wonder if VCG will be impacted? I would take VSP in a heartbeat. Regret not taking severance ladt year

It is simple - choose RTO without complaint or choose the VSP. Either way quit whining about it.

It would not be a one or the other as why give a VSP if you refuse to RTO. While I’m not thrilled on RTO you have to put your big boy and girl pants on and remember most of us accepted postions to report at a location and not a work remotely from home or wherever. I can only speak for myself and not others as I do not know their hiring agreement.
